So they had done the m-chat before this meeting and some flags along with his older brother being on the spectrum prompted this more thorough eval. They did the BDI-II. He is speech-delayed. They gave me some more ideas on things to do at home for his social language and hopefully getting his speech up to age appropriate will help him in the long run. He tested moderate-average in most of his areas and high in his motor skills. His moderate scores were attributed to his lack of both receptive and expressive communication. He did however have very good body language through facial expressions and hand gestures. So he is understanding some.
On a side note-it's a very small world. The psychologist that was part of his assessment had also been part of the team that evaluated my ds1 back in 2006! So I was glad to have a familiar face that also knew that I was competent in this process.
Now we're in the process of fixing up ds2's IFSP and finding out where he can get his speech therapy.
One step at a time!
