Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

Cleanse after Miscarriage...

I recently miscarried (at 8 weeks) and have been feeling the need to start a cleanse. We plan to wait the recommended 2 cycles before ttc again, and in the meantime I want to get my body in the best health possible. I am interested in doing a cleanse as a sort of "reset" button - to get a fresh start which will allow me to move forward with a natural and healthy diet. Did anyone else feel the desire to cleanse after miscarriage? I know that the body is naturally cleansing itself, and I want to help it along. Did you try a cleanse after miscarriage to prepare your body for ttc again?

Re: Cleanse after Miscarriage...

  • I did not, but that is an interesting idea.  I guess it depends on the type of cleanse you mean.  I have known people to do a "cleanse" that was drinking a lot of water and only eating whole foods/organic type of food.  I would think that would be fine.

If you are looking to do colonics or drinking only liquids (forgive me if I'm way of base here this may not even be in the realm of a cleanse) I would probably avoid it.  Your body has been through so much and I think getting good nourishment is important.  You can always check with your doctor though, they'll know whether or not it's okay.

  • I did a cleanse recently in preparation for IVF and after my miscarriage. There are a couple you can do, it really depends on what's comfortable for you. There is a fertility cleanse out there that goes with your cycle for 28 days so you'd need a full cycle to devote to it and not be TTC at the time. OR you could do like I did which was a modified cleanse for a period of time just to kickstart your system.

I had done some research online and most professionals say that the best thing you can do for your body is to eat clean for a period of time. You don't have to go on some crazy juice fast with a ton of supplements. We went to Whole Foods (high end grocery store) and got a 7 day quick cleanse and then modified our diet to include no red meat, dairy, sugar, caffeine or flour.

    Good luck!

I know this is an old post but I did a cleanse after my miscarriage at 5 weeks. I started with drinking daily green smoothies for breakfast and before bedtime using whole/organic fruits and veggies. Now Im on a very gentle 1 month fertility cleanse regimen recommended by natural fertility info website. I feel amazing. My skin is glowing and Ive lost some weight without even trying.
I love the smoothies so much I plan to always have them in my diet, especially breakfast time.

    Good luck :-)

@pem1228‌ Please do not bump up old threads on this board. They have the potential to be very hurtful to many people. There is a sticky thread at the top of the board asking you not to. Please read it.
