Lurking on the board today, and there was one post about asking people if they like their names/if they would think their name was a good name for a baby.
Soo....what are your names (first and middle)/do you like it/growing up did you get teased for it? Bonus: what are your siblings names?
I'll start, my name Is Holland Millie Julia, and I really do like my name. I STILL to this day get "Where you born in Holland?" Which I wasn't. The worst is when I grew up and guys would try to act clever by saying "I've never been to Holland, maybe tonight that can change" which would always ellicit an eyeroll and a quick departure on my part. I go by the nn Holly most of the time (which got me teased the worst, and I would always get "Hollywood" screamed at me by neighborhood kids). But overall, it has been a good name to have. And my bosses even have told me it made me stand out on the list, so that is a plus.
Bonus: 2 brothers, Jason Joseph and Daniel William
What about you guys, what are your names?
Re: What is YOUR name?
My name is Lindsey Georgia. I always thought Lindsey was fine growing up, except I wanted to spell it Linzie when I was 14 . I hated Georgia, though. I so wanted to have the middle name Marie, like all my friends, ha! I really love it now.
My brother is Mitchell Dominick, which is a family spelling. From what I remember he didn't like his name much growing up b/c it has "hell" in it and I always made fun of his middle name b/c of the grocery store Dominick's that we shopped at. He typically goes by Mitch these days.

Aimee Lynn. I like it enough, it's nothing that special but I've never disliked it or had problems with it. When I was a kid there were quite a few people, like teachers, that didn't know it was pronounced the same as "Amy" when they first saw it. They would say "ah-me?" Maybe the spelling is more common now than it was then (I honestly have no idea) but I haven't had someone mispronounce it in years and years.
ETA: My brothers are Robert James and Joseph Nelson, both after grandfathers.
DD (5 years old) from IUI in 2012
TTC 3rd and final!: IUI #1 in progress!
My name is.... Angela Catherine (I go by Angie mostly)
Do I like my name? ehhh it grew on me haha
Do I wish it was something else? YES! Growing up I always wished I was a Lauren or Alyssa or Ashley. But my first name, I actually am starting to like...I would never name my child it but it isnt the worst name in the world. I never had problems with it growing up or anything like. Now my middle name, I HATE!!! I can not stand middle names like Catherine, Rose, Elizabeth, Marie....ugh! I cringe when I see/hear those middle names (or names in general)
My siblings are:
Kenneth Allen (Kenny)
Corrinne Lee (nn Rinni until she hit highschool, but everyone in our family/close circle, myself included call her Rinni. My girls call her "Anna Beanie" bc my oldest couldnt say Aunt Rinni at first!)
& My stepbrother's name is Zachary Allen (Zak)

Mine is Hannah Elizabeth. I love the name Hannah on my best friend, but I never liked it on me. I like Elizabeth, but we have about four other Elizabeths in our family alone.
Siblings:
Daniel Josiah
Joseph Stephen
Gabrielle Martha
Sarah Naomi
Michelle Abigail
Cara Elizabeth Mary. I do like my name, there is always the need to spell it (C or K) and the whole pronunciation issue, but it isn't crazy common and it suits me. I am fourth generation to have Elizabeth in my name (DD is fifth) and Mary is after a grandmother I didn't particularly like, so I am actually considering changing it to my mother's name when I change my LN.
Sibs are Matthew Allan Lois and Aimee Katherine Lilike, all MNs are family names, and embarrassingly I am not sure if Lilike is the correct spelling, I know its a Hungarian version of Lily.
My name is Ashton Blair. I really like my name, and so does pretty much everyone I meet. I get a LOT of compliments on it. When I was a kid though, I had the unfortunate fact that The Blair Witch Project had come out and Ashton Kutcher became popular. This gave kids quite a bit of ammo to tease me with. It didn't last long and I wasn't very tormented by it. I also had the initials ABC. I have only got Mr. Ashton on one piece of mail in my life on a magazine, and I'm unfazed if someone does point out it's a "boys" name.

My name is Brianna Nicole.
I really did like my name growing up and still do. I liked that I was the only Brianna in my schools. Everyone close to me calls me Bri which I also really like. DH is probably the only one close to me who calls me Brianna other than my Grandma.
Brianna Banana and Bri Baby come to mind from elementary school...
In high school my friend called me Brianna Nicole Smith (like Anna Nicole Smith) They also called me Breezy and we made up gross NN's for each other because we were that cool (or bored) they gave me Bri-Gina. Like vagina.. Yeahhh not even kidding. Lol.
My siblings are Brian Neal and Brittney Michelle. Yes I have those parents lol and my dad is Bobby. They were definitely lovin the B's. I think growing up like this is why I don't understand the whole "how does this sib-set sound" lol
ha ha I'm a Lauren Ashley...
I've been indifferent about my first name. It was fine growing up. It was common enough people knew/know how to pronounce it but, not so common I ever had to tack on my last initial to be differentiated from my classmates. I didn't even know another Lauren until college. It doesn't rhyme with anything really so it wasn't ever a source of jokes or anything.
I hated Ashley. It was so common growing up and I felt my parents could have been more original.
I feel both names are very dated to my generation.
My sister is a Jenelle but, she 12 years younger and apart of a completely different generation.
Mommy loves you Eevee!
<a href="http://s834.photobucket.com/albums/zz270/cpali/?action=view
Keri Michael Marie - I've always loved my name but I wish it was spelled Carrie.
Stacy Noel - Everyone seems to spell Stacy with an E (Stacey). My sister LOVES her middle name.
My name: Abbey Colleen
Do I like it?: Yes. Very much. I like that my name isn't Abigail (my mom named me after both Westminster Abbey and Abbey Road). You don't hear Colleen very often, either, but it's totally legit. When I married, I actually dropped my maiden name and just took my husband's last name, because I like my name so much.
Did I get teased?: Yes. In middle school I was Crabby Abbey. People spread horrible rumors about me that I had crabs & lice and I was bullied terribly because of my name, but it was probably just because I was new and rather independent.
I don't have any full siblings.
My name is Brooke Marie, and ive never hated it. Growing up i loved all of the Nns i got- brookie cookie, cookie, brooke mccook. All of my aunts (6) on my moms side and all of my cousins have the middle name Marie. The fact that we all share it is what i love. I love when people say "ugh, i know like ten people with that middle name" and i get to say "me too! All of my aunts and cousins share it wih me!"
My sisters name is Chelsea Marie.
Mu name is Karmellah Blue. I adore my name. Its so me. Yea I got teased but who cares, it honestly didnt bug me.
My brothers are Garrett Diamond & Tyler Jay
I'm Kirstin MacKenzie. (Pronounced Kjer-sten)
Siblings: Alexandrea Michelle and Ian Christian. My sister has gone by 'Alex' for most of her life.
My parents are Kathleen Sue and Frederick Gilbert.
I don't have a plethora of nicknames, and didn't growing up, except for maybe 'Kiki' or 'Kirsy'.
I've always liked my names. I've never personally met anyone with the same exact spelling of my name and pronunciation, and it was always nice being the only Kirstin in a classroom my whole life...even if I had to correct pronunciation of my name for everyone a few times or more...
Aside from my brother going through a phase when he was about 3-years old and refused to answer to anything but 'Michael', I think my siblings like their names well enough too!
What a fun post!
My name is Allison Margaret. Margaret is my mom's fn. Most people call me Ally. My parents spelled it Allie, until I decided the "Y" was cuter in middle school and it stuck. Now, I wish I could go back to a normal spelling. I hated the mn Margaret growing up and always wished it was the ever popular, Marie. It is annoying sometimes that Allison and Ally have so many spellings that I am constantly spelling my name for people. I did get teased for my name growing up, but nothing bad. One thing I did like was all of the nns for Allison; Al, Ally, Allycat, Allykins, Allygator, etc...
My siblings are:
Andrew (Andy) Michael
Courtney Brae
Derek Allen
Christian Patrick
**All middle names are family names**
My dad also has 2 kids that are much younger than I am, I honestly don't even know their middle names. Their first names are Csilla (Chill-uh) and Zoltan. Their mom was born and raised in Hungary and apparently they are cultural names, although after looking up Csilla I'm not so sure.

My name is Kacey Michelle. I'm not a fan. "Unique" spelling of a boy's name coupled with a dated middle name = not a fantastic name for a girl.
My two younger sisters' names are Jordan Nicole and Jessica Lyn.
ETA: I never really got teased. When I got older (high school age), I got called Kacey-dilla (quesadilla) and Basket Kacey, but both were by friends and neither bothered me.

My name is Nicole Elizabeth.
Brothers Kevin Vincent and Blake David. Sister Lordia Joy (adopted).
ETA: My name is "meh". I don't love it, or hate it. It's generic and kind of boring. My parents had a really hard time agreeing on a name for me. I'm glad I'm not Giselle or Michaelen though (the other two names on my parent's list for me).
Carolina (no MN)- pronounced with a long e. Name has been butchered entire life. I went by Carey or Carol. I go by my full first name at work.
Tammy Eileen- daughter is Kaitlyn Marie (her baby- Brooklyn Mae).
Cheryl Lynn- daughter Heather Lynn
Cristina Maria- son Avery Jayden, daughter Shyla Reese and Bree Madison
Andrea Mariana- son Nicolas Mariano, daughter Juliana Marie
My son- David Lee
I have a niece named Lauren Ashley. I haven't seen her in nearly 20 years. Her dad (my step brother) is a loser to the 10th degree and her mom got smart and created a whole new life without him.
My name is Jennifer Nicole. Probably one of the most common names. The biggest problem I have with my name is how many women there are with the name Jennifer. I'm a teacher and on my grade level one year there were 3 of us. It gets crazy. Also, I go by Jenny, which was fine until Forest Gump came out and now everyone thinks they're being clever by saying Jen-nay. Overall, not bad... just common.
My brother is Tyler Joseph.
Shana (Shay-nah, long first "a") Elizabeth.
It got pronounced wrong a lot growing up which used to bother me but it doesn't anymore and I love my name. I like the meaning of my first name - a spelling variation of Shaina which is Yiddish for "beautiful" and my middle name goes back 5 generations on my mother's side so it is nice to share that with so many women in my family including my mom!
My name is Jennifer Shiona - Nn Jenni
Everyone and their dog was named Jen/Jennifer/Jenny, so I didn't really love my name, but I never got teased for it either. The other option was Jean, so I'm ok with Jennifer instead!!
My middle name is pronounced Show-na, but my Dad is from Glasgow, and insisted on putting the 'i' in so that us Canadians would say it right "She-oh-na" with a Scottish accent. I love my middle name for the heritage
My name is Joann Marie. I HATED it when I was a teenager, it was so boring and blah. Now I love it! I do hate that people spell it incorrectly, Joanne, JoAnn, Jo-Ann, JoAnne, Joan (I have never understood how people got "Joan" out of Joann, clearly TWO "Ns" people!).
My nicknames have included Jo, Jay, Jo Jo (I wasn't a fan of that last one.) And my father always called me Jobi (pronounced Joe-bee) hence my screen name!
I like how it is a classic name that isn't overused at all.

My name is Ashley Marie. I always liked my name, but wanted to spell the first name Ashleigh because of a character in a series oh horse books when I was 10.
My sister's name is Rachel Kailin and my husband is Ronald Joseph
My name is Elizabeth Grace, NN Betsy. I love my name, Grace is my great grandmothers name. Every year in school my teacher would call out Elizabeth and everyone would look for the new kid in school, until I told them I preferred being called Betsy.
My mother's goal was for me to enjoy a little girls name (Betsy) but still have a strong adult name if I ever became a doctor or lawyer (Elizabeth). I tried going by Elizabeth during my internship in college, but everyone just chose a NN for me, so I go by Betsy now.

Hello, I'm Ellen Frances. I love my first name, it's not very common but also not very dated-sounding like Gertrude or Bertha. I was always the only Ellen in school, though sometimes there was an Erin or Aaron so that could get confusing if you misheard the name. I was in high school when Ellen Degeneres became well known so I got that a lot, and of course Smellin' Ellen. My middle name was my Nana's middle name. My parents wanted Ellen to be my mn, but couldn't come up with a fn, so they changed it up. I'm the only grandchild of my Nana's named after her in some way. I don't particularly care for the name Frances by itself, but it could have been worse!
The only Ellen's I knew growing up were the mothers of my older sisters' 2 BFF's. What's really funny is both of those Ellen's have the same last name! My BFF has the middle name Ellyn, we love having something in common like that.
There's not too many nn's for Ellen, there's really not a need for one. Best we've come up with is El. Spelling has surprisingly been an issue, mostly when I was younger. I've seen Elen, Elin, Alan, Alen, etc. And I've even been called Helen and Eleanor. Not so much a problem now as there's a few actors with the name Ellen - Degeneres, probably the most well known Ellen; also Ellen Pompeo, Ellen Muth, and Ellen Page.
It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s that I don’t know you. Stranger Danger.
My name is Kimberly Michelle Lynn. I've always liked my name, but have been made fun of a lot. When I was a kid the boys would tease me and ask why my mom named me "Michael." In college I've had many professors say my whole name out loud and poke fun at the fact I have 3 names plus my last name. A lot of my close friends call me Kimmie. My mom would always call me Kimber-shell-lynn mushing my name together. I always liked it when she would do that. My brother in law likes to call me Gibler after Kimmie Gibler on full house. I never really minded being teased, it never bothered me. So despite all of that I love my name.
My first name is Alix (my full name; it's not a nn for Alexandra), which I love now, but as a kid I wished for a more common name (i.e., for a brief period I wanted to change my name to Debbie (It was the 80s!)).
While I wouldn't go so far as to say it was a hardship having a name that people 1) spelled wrong all the time; 2) assumed was a boy's name until they met me; and 3) worst of all, you could NEVER find anything with my name on it (no "Alix" mini license plates or key chains for me!), it wasn't the easy name to have. As an adult, I'm happy to have a unique name, but I would still not give my child a uniquely spelled name (however, if we ever have a little girl, I might still consider a unisex name). My middle name is Elizabeth, which I've always loved. My brother's name is Matthew Aaron - lots of license plates and key chains for him!
Heather Renee. Named for a cute, spunky little girl in oshkosh overalls my mom met on a road trip and my aunt. I have always liked it. The popularity of Heather was never an issue for me.
Sister is Michelle Tiffany. Named for my dad (Michael) and his work (stained glass windows: Louis Comfort Tiffany.) There were lots of times she wished her names were reversed so she could be Tiffany Michelle. My parents aren't quite sure why they didn't do it in that order, because one of them did like Tiffany better. Also my sister was really into Tiffany the singer because she had red hair too.
Diana Alexandra. I think it's gorgeous, elegant, and polished. I get compliments on it all the time. When I got married, I gladly jettisoned my maiden in order to keep it. I was never teased. There is a Michael Jackson song "Dirty Diana", which some of the boys on the playground would taunt me with, but eh, I don't know that I've ever actually heard the song and it's certainly not an enduring tune today. And on the childhood teasing scale, that's at the very bottom lol.
Oddly enough, my name was no problem for people when I was younger, but as I age, people keep calling me everything under the sun but Diana: Deanna, Deena, Diane. I guess there are so many alternatives that people don't naturally think of mine.

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
My name is Lindsey Lee...they male spelling of Lindsey, and my middle name is after my grandfather. I think my parents wanted a boy
It's pretty meh, never hated/loved it either way. It's a super easy name to yell though, lol. I go by Lindsey, but answer to Linz too. Although my FIL sometimes calls me Lynn which is not the same name at all! Most people still spell it with an 'a' instead of an 'e' which I just ignore now cause it happens ALL the time.
My brother's name is Andrew Steven. His initials are ASK. Neither of us really got teased for our names.
My name is Kimberley Marie. Or was, my legal middle name is now my maiden name. It was a fine name, except that it was always spelled incorrectly. My middle name was pretty much a filler of the late 70s, early 80s variety.
My sister's name is Meredith Joy.
My name is Jennifer Lynn. My mom loved the name and always wanted a Jennifer for a daughter. I'm actually named after the cribs kind of Jenny Lind that is.
I don't hate my name but its not like its unique. I graduated with 7 other Jennifer's or Jenny's in some variation. And Lynn is a very popular middle name.
I also have one brother: Steven Michael.
