So we went to the pediatrician today and Avery is cutting a half of a dozen teeth. Woo Hoo. We got two teeth at 8 months and no more. Now we are making up for it.
The bottle says every 6 - 8 hours for Ibuprofen. Can I give it any sooner? Does anyone know?
Re: Ibuprofen: can I give every 4 hours?
Do you think it would be cool to give Tylenol this soon? It's be 4 hours. She can't get back to sleep. She is hurting so bad. I don't know what else to do.
I think Tylenol now would be OK. Poor girl
Hope those teeth come though soon!
Thank you!

Oops posted too soon! This website talks about alternating
I didn't click on the linky, but my husband is in the medical field and he said that all the surgeons/docs he works with all say to not alternate tylenol (which is acetaminophen) and ibuprofen b/c of complications of the liver and processing it. Also, because ibuprofen lasts longer, mixing it with acetaminophen can overlap and give your child way too much over a 24 hr period if you are not careful. The only time I have ever heard of a doc saying to alternate is when an extremely high fever is involved (102 or higher). Again, not sure of all the reasons, but my husband works on spinal surgery cases, and whenever a patient has a combo of tylenol and motrin/ibuprofen in their system, they cannot perform surgery.
Can you try wetting some washclothes and putting them in the freezer? We also give LO Humphries tablets (no chemicals) when her ibuprofen is wearing off -we used the easy dissolve cherry strips. They sell them at CVS, walgreens, etc. They are around 4 dollars.
I am so sorry for your sweet LO! What a nasty time!!
** I'd also keep using the ibuprofen. It lasts longer b/c it is stronger.
Thanks for the advice. I have always heard it is okay to alternate the two because they are totally different medicines. I know that they are both very hard on the liver which is why I only give her either when she really, really needs it. I was just unsure on if I had to wait the whole 6 hours before giving her anything.
The doctor recommended the ibuprofen because it's stronger and the inflammatory qualities of it.
Thanks for helping me out ladies. I am just ready to be done with this. We are on night 3 of her being up and down. Thank God I am now a SAHM. I wouldn't be able to function otherwise.
