My bff is having her shower this weekend for her first baby. I bought her a stroller but was also thinking about getting her a ring sling. I went to their website and saw that they have instructions for making your own. If you made your own, did you buy the rings though a company like Ring Sling or did you find rings some place else. Any recommendations for fabric that worked well?

Re: Anyone make their own ring sling?
Yes, I made mine and have made some for others. Here is the website I used for my pattern: https://lifemoresimply.blogspot.com/2009/12/how-to-make-ring-sling.html
And yes, I use rings from ring slings. I use the aluminum ones. They do not scratch or chip, are safe for LO to chew on, and can hold weight.
I used cotton for mine. HTH!

The only other rings that are safe and readily available are horse tack rings (like, for gear a horse would wear). And they are heavy, whereas Sling Rings are light.
My sling is 2 layers of cotton sewn together (butterflies on one side, plain on the other) with pockets on the bottom of the tail. The pockets are really handy - if you make one, add pockets. Mine just close with a bit of velcro. Great to throw a wallet and a diaper in.
