My LO cries most evenings and is really fussy for about an hour or so. Does anyone else have this? Anything you do to soothe/comfort yours? We make sure he's fed, changed, burped, etc and we try the 5 S's....the crying only seems to last for about an hour(knock on wood)...

Re: evening crying
Around 5-6 weeks our LO was having very fussy evenings and would cry off and on from around 5pm-8pm. We tried everything to keep him happy like you but he just cried with very few small breaks. I have heard there is a 6 week growth spurt where some babies are just unhappy. It has since stopped for us. Only occasional fussy evenings now. This stopped almost 2 weeks ago and my LO is 9 weeks today.
I have also noticed that since I created a bedtime routine and had him 'winding down' and heading to bed around 8pm, he has been much less cranky. It's almost like he was overtired or something.
We're also going through this now...like right now. It's more than an hour though; she's usually fussy from about 6:30-7 until 10-10:30 at night when she decides to finally go down. It's only been like that for the past few days now so we're hoping it won't last. Pretty much the only things that seems to calm her down is holding her and pacing or putting her in her stroller and walking her around, but if we stop she picks right back up again.
Mine has done it since birth.
The doctor said that some babies just have a "fussy" time of night. Sometimes I can console her and sometime I cannot.
DD is usually a rather cheerful baby, but she's started to develop a fussy time between 8:30 and 9:30 pm. It seems to be her way of winding down for the night. Most often if I change her, swaddle her, and do one more feeding, she will go to bed.
Mine did the same every evening up until 5 weeks... Now it is about 3 x's a week... Usually it is because baby is overstimulated or overtired and they cannot calm because of this. You are lucky it lasts just an hour. Have your tried a bath at night with a baby massage after? My LO loves this and it signals that bed time is near.
Good luck!
