XP from Sept 2012
I woke up early Sat morning with my shorts soaking wet feeling like I was leaking fluid. The on call OB sent me to L & D to check for amniotic fluid. The test was negative so they sent me home. I continued to feel fluid leaking every time I stood up. I had a routine OB appt Tues and they re-tested me for AF. Negative again. My OB sent me home telling me that although I was testing negative for AF, she didn't want me to just assume all was OK if I continued to leak. She's seen patients test negative a few times then positive the next day/week, including herself (she has twins). She told me to request a specific AF test if I did end up back at L & D.
So, this morning I got up and was still leaking fluid. I didn't feel right not knowing for sure so I called my OB again. She sent me to the hospital to be checked again. In triage they did the special AF test and the normal AF test. Both came back positive. So I'm being admitted to the hospital until I deliver. If no other complications arise, they will let me go to 34 weeks before delivering the babies.
I'm in L & D now being monitored. I had my first steroid injection to speed up the babies' lung development. I'll get another tomorrow. I'm also on IV antibiotics to prevent infection since my water is ruptured. Apparently I am having some contractions. If they keep up, I'll get magnesium to hopefully stop them. Later they'll move me to the ante-partum floor where I will stay until after I deliver.
That's about all I know right now. I'll try to update as I get more info. I'm pretty overwhelmed right now. I left my house thinking I'd be back home in a few hours.
Re: Water ruptured - admitted to hospital
Prayers for you! Hopefully they can hold off delivery for several weeks! They just discontinued my antibiotics because I'm 6cm and my bag of water was exposed.

This is my siggy. Love it.
I left my house thinking I'd only be gone for a regular appointment and was admitted to the hospital too. It's an odd feeling and really disorienting. Try your best to go with the flow. Once you have some of your own stuff from home there with you it will feel better.
You're doing everything you can and, it was so good that you went with your gut and called again. Hang in there!

Sounds like you are in a good place and I hope you can make it as long as possible. Take care!
P.S. I was a Sept 11 mamma who delivered in July last year!
