My father in law suddenly passed away and I will be flying to attend his funeral service. DH is making the 9 hour drive tomorrow and then I'm hoping to fly, with DS (4 weeks on Friday) on Tuesday.
Do you all have any tips/hints/suggestions on flying with him? I'll be doing it by myself, although my parents will be helping me get in the aiport and DH will meet me and help me get out of the airport. The flight is only about an hour long. DH will drive with most of the baby stuff (pack n play, stroller, diapers, etc), so I'm hoping to just have my big carry on mom/diaper bag and my pump...although I'm sure I'll end up checking a bag of stuff that I forgot to send with DH.
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks ladies.
Re: ?'s about flying with 4 week old
Sorry to hear about your FIL. But, you really shouldn't have too many problems. I'd rather travel with a 4 week old than with a two year old.
My best advice is to wear something super easy to nurse in close quarters. There's not much room to move around or be private. You can also gate check the stroller for free, which may make it easier to get to the gate.
Oh, and bring anti-bacterial wipes to clean the seats, armrests, tray tables. You don't want to pick up any nasty airplane bugs.
Nurse or bottle feed as the plane takes off/lands.
Baby wear vs the stroller.
definitely wear the baby. it will make things so much easier

I would keep the stroller, you can push it all the way down to the terminal and they will check it for you at the gate so you dont have to carry LO all the way through the airport.
Secondly, just BF. You are not going to be able to pump on the plane having LO on your lap. Have a nice big blanket to cover you and baby for take off and landing (for LO's ears).
Also have some sort of wrap or baby bjorn to keep him snug. For whatever reason, having DS in this made me feel like I was protecting him better from the germs/people in the airport and my arms didnt get tired.
