Babies: 6 - 9 Months

when can I give teething biscuits?

We're doing BLW, and DS is starting to pick up things and chew/suck a little.  Green beans have been the fave so far :)  Can we give him teething biscuits?  We're also doing purees for a bit (only because he doesn't sleep at night without something extra in his belly), but lately all DS has been doing is biting down on the spoon.  As soon as he gets the hang of BLW the purees are out.

Anyway, if we can give them to him what brand do you recommend?  BTW DS has 6 teeth already!  He's quite the chomper.

Re: when can I give teething biscuits?

  • I probably didn't give teething biscuits to DS1 until he was at least 9 or 10 months old.  I hated them and don't plan on giving them to DS2.  They were very messy and definite choking hazards.  I'm drawing a blank at the moment about what I preferred over them though.

  • I have a 6 month old and have been using mum mums. She likes them and they seem to make her gums feel a little better.

Mum mum aren't comparable IMO at all to teething biscuits.

We won't get teething biscuits mainly because of the mess & choking hazard.

  • DD has had them and loves them and ds always loved them too.  I guess I'm not too concerned about choking hazards because I'm right there when she has them.  I like the Gerber ones because they are easier to grip, but the Earths Best ones are harder to break apart.

I tried the Earth's Best biscuits a couple weeks ago, but they were messy!  Mum Mums are working for us, for now. DD has one tooth and one on the way.
  • Frozen whole wheat bagels work well.

    We also do graham crackers.
