pediatric vs. regular dentist

What do you ladies use for your lo?  My dentist would be happy to see him but is it better to take him to a pediatric?

Re: pediatric vs. regular dentist

  • I take DS to a pediatric dentist. I like specialists, and I also feel it's a more kid-friendly office for him.

I just take him to my dentist. He goes at the same time I do & we are in and out in an hour.

    Same here.

  • I love my dentist and have been going to him since I was a kid. DS went with me last time and I was amazed at how well he did. The kids will continue to go to the same dentist as me.

  • My dentist doesn't see them until 5, same with DH's so we go to pediatric.  I love it- the whole office is a playland.  You go in and the names of kids with appointments are posted on a board with a balloon attached to each name.

Plus, like PP mentioned, I like the specialist factor.

  • We take our kids to a pediatric dentist. The office has lots of fun stuff for kids and I think it creates a positive association with going to the dentist.
  • Peds dentist for us too. Sounds like most regular dentists don't even see kids until 3 and I wasn't going to wait that long. DH's older kids went there when they were younger and we take our nieces there too, the office is fun and they're used to seeing kids and dealing with unhappy kids!

DS sees our reg dentist, but they are very good with kids and its a child friendly place. DS has his appts right after DH.

  • Can not answer this question right now given my son will not go to a denist until he is 3 but I would take him to a pedi denist just my preference
