We are still without power. Day 4 and they are estimating that the majority but not all of my part of the state should be restored by SUNDAY! I figured we would be back on by Thursday at the latest...boy was I wrong.
We are fortunate enough to have found a generator, which we are using to run the fridge and and occasional fan or tv. I will say it was wonderful to go to sleep lastnight with a fan blowing on us.
Just a glimpse of what we are going through~~ obviously no a/c and the temps have been upwards of 96, boiling water for a semi warm bath, handwashing clothes in the bathtub, ice does not exist, boil water advisory state wide, no traffic lights, my new car was hit on Sunday and at some other point a dent was put in my door, cooking off a grill is great but there are only so many options, Walmart is now open but there is no fresh meat, no dairy, no frozen anything, no fresh produce, gas lines are hours long...if there is any left.
Ok, I think that covers it...I feel a little better now, sort of. I will say that I am thankful for my running water, flushing toilet, my DH busted his a$$ to get the generator for us (a mile +hike down to a cabin and then hauling it out on a 4 wheeler)
All in all we are good to go, it is just terribly inconvient and uncomfortable. But we are safe and healthy.
And kudos to all the Power Co. guys that have came from hundrends of miles away to help!
Re: Still in the dark.....
OMG - can't even imagine that long without power. Make sure the generator isn't too close to the house or open windows and you have a working carbon monoxide detector. A few summers back there was a big power outage in my area and a bunch of people got really sick & almost died from the fumes of their generators.
Hang in there!
ME:46 MH:44 DE IVF 2014
Met with RE 4/11. 2 IUI's BFN. DE best option. Switched clinics to do "shared" program. Had to retake all tests and a mamm that put me behind and then on a DE waiting list for 12 months. Picked a donor!! (10/13/13) Got matched. Estimated transfer in December. After 2.5 years of patiently waiting I will finally cycle....can hardly believe it. DE cycle got cancelled. One of her tests came back positive. Waiting for another donor. Donor picked!! (1/18/14)

Oh I cannot imagine adding this kind of stress to the TTC process! I am glad DH found a generator and was such a hero to get it back to the house! Hang in there and I'm glad that you guys are alright and your home's damage is limited to just the power outage!

Absolutely, I am so thankful that our home was not damaged and that my family is safe! I hate to be a whiner but....ugh.
I spent about 24 hours w/o power when hurricane Ike passed through Houston, it was miserable and I really feeel for you. I can't imagine 4 days and you still don't know when you'll get it back.
Coincidentally, there was a bit of a baby boom 9 months after Ike passed through Houston....maybe you'll get something good out of this?
