1.  I love the hot weather....and I can't resist the opportunity to quote Karen Walker:  "It's hot. There's nature everywhere.  It's hot."

2.  We are getting E early today to go to his friend's 1st b-day party. So fun.

3.  Starting to worry about a family vacation in August.

4.  We are watching our spending and living on "scraps and love" as we like to say.  Makes for some creative cooking.

5.  I need to be productive in my short day here - instead I am on the Bump.

6.  My coffee is disappearing too quickly.

7.  Target diapers rock.  Anyone else use them? We use them as well as cloth.  Anyone used CVS dipes?  we have a coupon for a free pack.

8.  Our gas and electric bill is going to be so scary.  At least we have been lucky not to lose power. I am sorry for those of you who have - what an annoyance!

9.  E is really starting to get the hang of fingers foods.  He WON'T be eating purees in college. :)

10.  Happy Friday to those working today and off tomorrow!

Re: TTT

  • yes, SO much cheaper.  We like Huggies overnights for our heavy wetter, and since he leaks out of cloth with a doubler.  We just started trying a size up of regular target for overnight.
  • Loading the player...
  • for a free pack CVS diapers are fine, though you might have touble finding any on the shelves b/c they have been on clearance for the past couple weeks.  I guess they are changing the packaging and cleared out all the old stuff.  I got 3 packs last week for $3 each!

    4) I really hope I am preggo...it has been long enough.

    5) I hate my job more than anything but I have no way of going somewhere else right now or even better quiiting and staying home.

    6) I am annoyed with my wife for reasons I cannot even explain.

    7) I cannot decide if I am hungry or not

    8) Still waiting to here back from our friend K to see if she can go pick up Ky....

    9) I am frustrated with our finances right now. I just cannot seem to make it work even though it really should.

    10) Off to go make more calls for Ky...

    7. A "Clean Air" bill went into effect on 7/1 here. You cannot smoke in restaurants and if you smoke outside it has to be at least 8 feet from the building entrance.  It is a great bill, IMHO. I appreciate that I can now breathe cleaner air.

We have had that for years and it is WONDERFUL!! I love not having to worry about being exposed to yucky smoke when we go out to eat!

  • 1. I forget that you can smoke in restaurants in other states...that has been law for us for quite a while now.  its a good one!

    2. I can relate to being annoyed at DW.  its all little stuff but it adds up.

    3. like yesterday when she was being "helpful" and picked up kids toothpaste b/c we were all out.  She got whitening toothpaste. wtf?

    4. got the email that we can leave at 2 today! yay!

    5. I'm growing out my hair to donate it and its really bugging me in this heat. blah

    6. I've decided I'm going to bring my big kids to see Brave. now just have to find the time...

    7. One of my new dogs is sick :(  she's got a bad eye and skin infection.

    8. Sidebar: I hate that I cant visit the vet w/o dropping $$$.  10 minute check up, shampoo and eye drops = $200. seriously?

  • 1. In the office today since we are closed tomorrow and Friday. Not complaining!!

    2. Its quiet and relaxed anyway since my boss is out this whole week.

    3. A week and a half until we're in Cape Cod!!!! I can't wait!!!

    4. It's already 88* outside and its only 10:30. I'm so over this 90* weather. I'm feeling a little wilted. Wilted Flower

    6. I'm going to run out to the local running store and try on some shoes. The ones I have are 5 years old, and completely worn out.

  • 1. I still am not used to Carter's hair. I love it, but every time I see him, I am shocked.

    2. And it is frightening how much he now looks like our former next door neighbor. So much so, I asked L if she thought the father was earning extra cash several years ago by making deposits and a certain bank. Ahem. L assured me that the kid looked exactly like the mother.

    3. I am thrilled to have tomorrow off. THRILLED, I tell ya.

    4. I am not so thrilled however to have to cover the ER for 3 consecutive days after that. It always makes for crazy and hectic days (and getting very little of my regular work done!)

    5. The kids have their 6y physical on Monday. I remember when going would be exciting and we would find out how much they weighed, etc. Now, I know how much they weigh since they love to get on the scale in our bathroom and it is just about getting their health form updated for school. :)

    6. I am addicted to non-fat iced mochas from Starbucks. I was good and didn't get one this morning since I have had one 3 days in a row. Oops.

    7.  I can't believe so many of our friends/co-workers are staying in their hot hot hot houses. Ugh.

    8. While it does suck that we had to throw so much food out, I am thankful that we are able to replace it and not have to sacrifice medication, gas, house payments, etc - like so many of the families I work with.

    9. My work husband just stopped by for a visit. I wish he worked in the building with me - although we would never get anything done.

    10.  I have had this open for a few hours...

    1.  Found out this morning that I need bilateral knee replacements...guess the gastric bypass came a little to late.

    2.  Problem is I am only 32 so they do not want to do them yet because if I live to 80 I would need to have them done like 4 times.

    3.  GRRRRRRRRR!!!!  One they rule out rheumatoid arthritis theey are going to put some lubricating goo in there so hopefully that will hold me off.

    4.  Decided to call this the summer of frustration.  No baby tries, busted knees, and just annoyed with money.

    5.  Ok enough of my whining.

    6.  Went to happy hour with some school student government buddies...three Catholic University students in a gay bar.  Sounds like some kind of joke but you gotta love the irony.

    7.  I really love hanging out in DC and want to start spending a little more time exploring there vs. Baltimore.

    8.  My least favorite holiday is tomorrow.  I am terrified of fireworks (got hit by one when I was a kid) so I will be enjoying my time outdoors until it gets dark then I am an indoor girl.

    9.  Eww the dog just barfed!!!

    10. Going to the beach next week and we get to take my four year old nephew...I cannot wait to have some time with him.

We had three BFN in the Fall of 2011. It is back on to some baby making come June. Swim little fellas, SWIM!!!!

I'm sorry for the bad news. Sad  The good news is they are making big strides in joints that last much longer, so if you can hold off a few years you might get ones that last for 20+ years.  My mom has "needed" a knee replacement since her late forties and has managed to stave it off until now (her early 60s) with Celebrex, cortisone shots, ice, and avoiding knee hurting things.  The key is to not wait too long (debilitating pain or big loss of function).

    1. I am out of my TTC funk.  We got the BW taken care of and the sperm shippers will be to our donor by the end of the week.  Soon C will pee on sticks and we'll have awesome timing and it will be a great cycle! (positive thinking)

    2. C's bloodwork came back normal.  This is a big relief for both of us (although she was much more worried than me) and lets us move forward with KD home insems with some confidence that they are not wasted cycles.

    3. I joined the women's only gym in my building last week.  It's cheap and convenient and totally worth it.

    4. I'm trying to get into an exercise habit as a way of easing the stress I've been feeling.  Even though none of the stressors are huge, they seem to add up to me being really stressed out a lot of the time.

    5. I'm really proud of the self-efficacy I've developed around taking care of my health.  Need to exercise to handle stress?  Sure, I can do that without worrying that I'm going to fail.

    6. #5 was a hard won battle that stems mostly from my slow and steady weight loss efforts over the past year.  I'm really stuck on a weight plateau, so it's nice to see all the other beneficial effects the process has had.

    7. My self-efficacy at work could use some improvement though.  I've just had such a hard time with focus lately.

    8. I can totally related to those little annoyances that all eventually add up.  I've been working on letting a lot of those things go, because otherwise C would be driving me crazy all the time.

    9. My big thing is C is she's such an absent minded professor, that sometimes I just flip out over her not being able to handle details/follow instructions.  I find myself just taking care of that stuff rather than having to fix it after she tries.

    10. Yes, I am a control freak.  Working on that one too.

  • 1. I love reading the snippets from everyone's lives all over the country. Some interesting folks on here!

    2. I'm very excited for DW to have tomorrow off! We are going to visit some friends in Providence and probably just hang out on their deck and eat.

    3. I'm still a bundle of stress about the baby in my belly. Since we had the ER scare, I'm second guessing every ache and pain my body is having. Is that a cramp? I think it's just gas and stretching, but I'm turning into a crazy.

    4. I just booked a hotel reservation for Ptown for the first weekend in September. We are going for a wedding, but a relaxing weekend away about that time of year sounds lovely! I love Ptown. Despite living in Mass, we honeymooned there. ;)

    5. Headed to my homeland (Maine) for the weekend - excited to see my fam!

    6. We were just given Red Sox/Yankees tickets from a family friend with season tickets for Sunday night. Excited, but we will have to come home from Maine a bit early.

    7. I then have to return to Maine on Monday PM, because I am watching my 6 week old niece on Tuesday and Wednesday. Excited to spend some quality time with her though!

    8. I need to investigate life insurance today. Getting old totally sucks.

    9. Stayed up too late reading a trashy romance novel - that's what vacation is for, I guess.

    10. Leaving for Colorado on the 13th, I hope that the fires have calmed down by then and everyone is safe!

We had it in our old city and then the town next to us here passed it a month before the state law went into effect. I'm excited. Smoking and nonsmoking sections just don't cut it.

I am blown away that this is still a problem.  We have had it since 1990 in MA.   It is a tragedy that is isn't nationwide.   Furthermore, it should ABSOLUTELY be illegal to smoke in the car with kids.  I know groups have tried to pass this in the past, I can't believe it is still up for debate.  Horrible, horrible, horrible.

  • 1.  I just want some caffeine... like copious amounts!!!

    2.  I am really stressed over this whole graduate from the RE thing (see other post).  I really want these two little beans to stick so I just want to make the correct decision for their care for the next 7 months.

    3.  4th of July will be a quiet day at home with M and the dogs.  M says she is going to get the yard fixed.  I asked to help and was told no, lol.

    4.  My whole work structure changed so I am excited about the changes to come.  These will keep me working from home more and less on the road in the car.  This will definitely be a plus over the next several months.

    5.  I absolutely love zofran.  It is my new best friend!

    6.  Today is my mom's 50th birthday so the family is going bowling.  My doctor told me no so I will be the cheering section.

    7.   My brain is scrambled today so I am not sure if I can get to 10.

  • 1. I'm off work tomorrow but back on Thursday and Friday. Holidays mid-week are just weird.

    2. This morning E was all stressed out and said that people tell her that she needs to know everything. I think she's just overtired from the weekend with her dad, but I had to talk her back from the brink of tears. Poor child, you're only 6! Just enjoy life, even mommy doesn't know everything!!!

    3. My boss just called and said some funding for our group was cut due to decreased recruitment. As if the pressure wasn't on already, it's really on now.

    4. So...here I sit doing my TTT. Embarrassed

    5. That said, I can't just make new patients appear.

    6. I need to make myself stick to a decent bedtime, but there is so much to do.

    7. E's friend in our new 'hood is leaving tomorrow on family vacation and won't be back until the end of the month. Cue the, "mommy are they home YET?"

    8. I saw a new dentist yesterday who I was referred to by one of my gay boyfriends. Super nice gay dentist whose office is 10 min from home. I've had some bad dentist experiences in the past so here's to a better one!

    9. I can't believe there are places that still allow(ed) smoking indoors, crazy!!!

    10. I hope everyone has a safe and fun 4th!!!

    3. I started the C25K on Saturday and feel great. Sure my thighs are burning, but it feels good to get up and do something about my health. Between that and using myfitnesspal daily I feel like I am on a really good path.

Go mommymonster go!  I did a C25K and it totally changed my life.  Really.

I'm gonna give TTT a shot!

    1. We got dismissed early from work.  YAY!

    2. When I got home, there was a bottle of Greek olive oil on our front steps.  Good, good Greek olive oil.  My brother-in-law (whom I rarely see because he and my sister are separated, but it's amicable) gets cases from a client sometimes and knows we love it.  Double YAY!

    3. My family is having a steamed clam and lobster feast tomorrow night, and my sister is making blueberry-blackberry pie.  I am in New England summer-food heaven.

    4. My house is clean and it's supposed to rain tomorrow off and on, so I guess my only choice is to totally relax tomorrow.  Poor me.  July 4th is not my favorite holiday, but I'll take any day off I can get.

    5. Is the 2ww over yet???

    6. My wife is convinced I'm pregnant.  Not because I am showing any signs of being pregnant, just because she finally went to an IUI and we had good sperm and now she's all in.  I'm trying to prepare her for a probable BFN but she says, "Just let me enjoy it for 2 weeks."

    7. Raspberries just came into season here and I bought some at the farmer's market today.  They are amazing.  It is the time of year when I go to the farmer's market and get overwhelmed because I want one of everything but there are only two of us.  Also got kale, peaches, carrots and peas.

    8. I am finally back to the gym after being sick for a while and it feels good.  But hard.

    9. I need to weed my veggie garden.

    10. There's a sink full of dishes calling my name.  Guess I'll go do them.

    Married my wife 8/2007 ~ TTC #1 since 7/2011

  • 1. I feel like I haven't been on the board in forever!

    2. This summer is flying by... we just managed to have the kids' birthday party this past weekend.

    3. now its the 4th of July. Yikes!

    4. We are trying to establish our family's 4th of July tradition. When I was a kid, we would go to the town parade in the morning and then fireworks at night.  I think we are going to a community picnic this year to see if this is how we want to spend the holiday.

    5. We may end up at the in-laws, playing in the pool. You know, patriotism at its best Wink

    6. We leave for vacation in 11 days. This will be our first time flying with kids since Lex was born. Kel has been coaching Eli on flying etiquette for days.  If we make it all the way to Buffalo without a meltdown, I will be shocked and amazed.

    7. We have a family cottage in canada on lake erie--this will be the kids' first time in a lake or on a beach.  They love the pool so I hope it goes well. If not, it will be a LONG week

    8. I am stressing the packing--I think I need to do a dry run, because I keep envisioning packing up half the house.

    9. the daycare just called and amazingly neither kid is sick--they just wanted permission to give a s'more as a snack.  apparently it is camping week.  I was so happy that I didn't have to leave work, I ok'd s'mores for my 14-month-old [:8]

    10. So...packing... Do my kids need water shoes?

  • 1. It's 10:17pm and I'm finally getting around to this...

    2. It's was our 8 year wedding anniversary today - I can't believe it's been 8 years (well 15 years together)

    3. EV worked from home for the morning, I cleaned and paid bills.

    4. We went to Point Reyes for lunch and then too the beach. It was a beautiful day - perfect really.

    5. Took a nap when we got home (I cherish every nap now).

    6. Then around 8pm we had dinner out in town (yummmm) and talked about what the life might look like in another 8 years.

    7. Our 6 year old Weimeranaer has attained a new phase in acting out. Came home to her having destroyed her bed (chunks of foam everywhere), knocked things down, etc. I think it's time to revisit crate training. (She's a rescue and never took to crate training as a puppy - I mean literally ate crates, bent metal to escape at 4 months old...)

    8. It's a full moon tonight and the moon rising was amazing

    9. My dad's bladder/prostate cancer is resurfacing again (this has been ongoing for a few months).  I'm still not sure how I feel about it. EV keeps asking, but I feel kind of numb...

    10. My parents booked a 10 day visit in August to see the baby.  This is from folks who usually visit for a day or a short weekend.  First grandchild must be greatly anticipated.
