I just started putting some shoes, but mostly robeez on them. They are able to pull themselves up now and need the traction. At your boys age I did not though. We also put the robeez on to help keep their socks on.
I've been puttting Robeez on since mid-September . It's too wet and cold in Oregon to go out with some protection from the elements. I'm going to get them Nike Peanut shoes when they start walking. I'm not sure the Robeez will be happy standing on wet pavement.
i only started to put shoes on the babies since they are getting ready
to walk . all last year durning the winter when they were little i just
kept them in sock.
I didnt vote since my girls are not here yet. However, I teach kindergarten at a child care center and over the summer I helped out in the younger classes (infants, toddlers, etc) and we require the children to wear shoes once they are in the young toddlers room (10 mo). You can very easily tell which of the little ones only wear shoes at school and which ones dont, because shoes come off all day even outside for those who dont normally wear them.
Actually, their first shoes (Converse First Stars) arrived today from Zappos. I want them to be barefoot as much as possible, but at the same time they need to get used to having shoes on their feet because they're starting to cruise & they'll be needing traction & protection on their little feet soon.
Our pediatrician said that bare feet were the best for them learning to walk. So they are bare foot inside. But they wear socks and shoes when we leave the house because they want to walk around every where.
Madeline hates socks and will only wear them when there are shoes on over them. Without the shoes she just pulls the socks off. She'll even go over to Sarah and pull off Sarah's socks.
Re: POLL: Do you put shoes on your babies?
I just got them some Robeez and have put them on their feet when we go out and it's cold. I figure it cuts down on the wind going in their socks.
Incidentally, they are cut REALLY big. I bought them the 6 - 12m size and they are ginormous on them!
Baby #3 due September 12, 2014!
