Owen Matthew is here!

Owen Matthew was born on June 18th at 3:39AM. My water broke on Saturday, June 16th at home and I labored for about 36 hours before having an emergency forceps delivery. Owen was "sunny side up" and wedged under my pelvic bone, and I wasn't able to push him out (after 3 hours of pushing he hadn't budged an inch!). He was born in distress due to an infection I developed because my water had been broken too long and he also pooped in utero, so all that plus his racing heart meant that he was not breathing or had pulse sounds. The NICU staff sprang into action and intubated him and got his little heart going, and after about 3 days in the NICU we got to take him home- a happy, healthy, 8lb boy!

I suffered two 2nd tears and a placenta prolapse, but am doing really well myself. Owen is 2 weeks old today and is a little blessing. Photos to follow, and I am going to post my birth story on the 3rd trimester board!
