Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Sleep Regression 10 months?

MY DD has been sleeping through the night for a while but all of a sudden she has started to wake up 2-3 times a night. She will stay up for 1-2 hrs at a time. She will be 10months on the 7th. Is this normal?

Re: Sleep Regression 10 months?

  • Could it be teething?  I find my LO who has been a great sleeper almost from the beginning, has some bad days when he's teething.

Try a pacifier (if you use them)  My LO sometimes wants one in the middle of the night when he's teething and it seems to help immediately.

    Good Luck!

  • It could be a number of things. That's the fun of babies, you never know!

I've accepted that when we get sleep back on track and it's good, that I am to expect a sleep regression after a few weeks/months. There are so many things that come into play.

  • Yes, there is a 9-11 month sleep regression.  It was the worst of all the regressions we experienced.  Terrible.  Google it, and then cry.  LOL!

  • Haha! I am crying! I also talked to another mom who went through the same thing. She said it was horrible. Thanks ladies!
  • We went through a sleep regression between 8-10 months as well.  It seemed to be more of a phase that went away on its own.  She was back to STTN again by 11 months on.

  • Yes! It's awful, and it's happening right now. He just woke up after 45 minutes which is the worst it's been yet! He usually goes right back to sleep with a quick bottle (1-2 oz.) but wakes up 3-4 times a night. He's getting a couple teeth so that could be it, but it's been going on for a few weeks which has me worried. No help for you, but I'm with you!

  • Yup, my son is smack in the middle of one now... he was finally DOWN to 5 wakings a night (yes, we were on easy street then)... now we're up to 8-10 a night again!

Good luck... As I was told by a mother of 5, "they all sleep... eventually"

  • I posted the same thing last month. Apparently it's normal and hellish :( We're down to one to two wakeups per night now vs the 3-4 we had prior but its still no fun but we'll make it through!

  • I think we may be in a similar situation. I am curious if you ladies let your babies cry through these wakings or if you go in to soothe? I am always torn on letting her cry b/c her waking is so out of the ordinary and it makes me think that something is wrong (teeth, tummy ache, milestones) and to let her cry through something like that is hard, but I'm never sure what is causing her to wake up.

DS never poops at night, so I know I can rule that out. I have a video monitor so I can be sure he's not stuck in the rungs or anything like that. I'm trying to break the habit of his early am feeding (between 3 and 4am) so right now I'm letting him CIO until at least 6am and Im moving that further and further up until its gone completely. If he wakes up other times during the night, I let him CIO. The longest he's cried so far has been about 20 minutes.

  • We're going through one right now. Its terrible. She doesn't just cry....she screams like she's terrified of something. Last night she got so worked up that she made herself sick. We're trying a couple things (introducing a lovey, and using a nightlight)....but we may end up calling the Ped for advice.
