TMI: itching

So yesterday I woke up and my vulva was extremely itchy. Has been ever since. My normal pregnancy discharge has not seemed to really change. I've never been prone to yeast infections, I've had maybe two my entire life and the last one was probably 5 or 6 years ago. As for cause, the only thing I can possibly relate to the timing is that I took a bath the night before the itching started. Should I just start a round of monistat just to be sure?

Re: TMI: itching

  • Why don't u pick up a vagisil screening kit first. It can tell u if it's a yeast infection. I would do that b4 I would start any treatments

  • Is the itching internal, external or both? I've had issues before with external itching and was told it was because that area had dried out. My doctor told me to use the monistat external cream to deal with that. I always know that I have a yeast infection because of external and internal itching that quickly turns to burning.

I wouldn't bother with the kit. I only say this bc during my last pregnancy I brought one to check if I had an infection, the kit says not to use if pregnant bc your PH levels are already off and it could give you a faulty reading. I would call the doctor. I called last time and described the symptoms and they told me what to do. (Used Monistat and everything was good after)

Its just external and no burning.

I read online it could be an imbalance in my PH and they said to apply a baking soda paste and rinse off. I've felt much better since doing that but I'm gonna pick up some Mobistar cream to have on hand in case (I'm on my way to vacation)

  • For me the itching starts on the outside and within a day it gets worse and also starts to itch on the inside (and as my old doc would say "make you want to pull your insides out") You could call your doc and they can swab you. Yeast infections can get worse pretty fast.
