Avery seems to have taken an aversion to most solid foods these days. I can't figure out what to do.
She won't touch anything that isn't "big people food". She just throws it on the floor. But lately she won't eat much of anything. She still drinks A LOT of BM a day (28 - 30 oz). Do you think this is why she won't eat a lot of solids? When should I start worrying about her solid intake?
What do you feed your LO's for Breakfast and Lunch? I usually have dinner covered with whatever I cook.
ETA: She refuses to allow me to feed her. Even if I am giving her something off my plate, you have to put it in her hand first.
Re: Feeding my Toddler... I need help/advice
Breakfast is usually a few cheerios while I get things going, then it's either scrambled eggs with cheese mixed in, fruit and milk, or pancakes, fruit and milk. Sometimes I'll give her yogurt and fruit and then some toast or more cheerios.
Lunch is dinner leftovers or veggie and fruit plus either quesadilla, lunch meat, bean, mac and cheese or soup.
She might be getting too much BM. The amount your DD is taking is maximum amount of milk my DD ever drank in one day. But that doesn't mean anything I guess. Still, my advice is just to offer different things and she might gobble up something that she really loves. Maybe try waffles for breakfast? They aren't the best food but they aren't nutritionally terrible. My DD loves them. Now I'm making a healthy veggie muffin for her but the waffle really got her to eat breakfast in the mornings. My DD is on all solids, no formula, and only 5 oz of milk in the AM. She has been cutting back on the amount she eats though. I feel like I'm doing a song and dance to get her to eat these days.
FWIW - A coworker of mine has a DS that has FPIES so he is highly allergic to a lot of food. He is 17 months old and still drinks formula. He only eats puffs and purees. He will be on formula until he is at least 2. So I think your DD is still fine with BM in terms of health but the longer you put off solids, the harder it might be to get her to eat.
I should mention that she has only two teeth (we have a few cutting) but she has no way to chomp up a lot of foods and I am scared to give her anything that she can't chew. She does like pancakes and a lot of fruits. I don't give her any WCM because that's what my milk is for. She is okay with yogurt. She loves puffs. I didn't even think of cheerios. I will just keep trying. I am just at a loss of what to giver her. LOL
DD just got her molars but has been eating everything for a while (way before she had them). She uses her gums. It scares the crap out of DH but I've watched her and if she can't chew / swallow something she'll spit it out.
I wouldn't worry about the lack of teeth. N has been eating whatever we eat (including things that need a lot of chewing for 6 months and he only had 2 teeth for the first few months. He still doesn't have any molars. They don't need teeth to chew. Those gums are tough!
N eats a piece of fruit and either Os or waffles for breakfast. Usually a wrap or quesadilla, scrambled egg or dinner leftovers for lunch plus a variety of veggies.
DD still breastfeeds from the tap, so I have no idea what volume she's getting from me, but she still nurses pretty frequently during the day in addition to eating finger foods.
For breakfast she eats some sort of fruit plus one or some of the following:
Cottage cheese or yogurt (the cottage cheese she will eat by the handful; large curd is pretty easy to pick up)
Cream cheese on toast cut up into small strips b/c she likes to self-feed
Homemade waffles or french toast (made in bulk and frozen)
English muffin with either 100% fruit spread or a thin layer of peanut butter
Scrambled eggs
Some things she has for lunch....
Small pieces of turkey or chicken
Steamed and cut up veggies (she'll eat almost any veggie except she won't touch green beans and peas for some reason)
Sandwich squares (with egg, turkey, chicken, cheese, PB&J)
Whole grain pasta with tomato sauce (sometimes I add cut up chicken and brocoli to this)

We're going through this also, though LO doesn't drink a ton of milk and has never eaten a ton of solids. He's tiny, so I'm constantly trying to get him to eat more. Only problem is, he won't eat "big people food" unless it's a very specific few things, and everything else goes on the floor. So, I'm not really much help there. I can almost never get him to eat what we eat and it makes me batty.
The meals we do have down are b'fast and lunch. For breakfast, he'll eat any combination of: yogurt or oatmeal mixed with fruit puree; halved blueberries, banana chunks, raspberries; waffles, french toast, toast with butter. I keep pushing eggs, but he won't eat them. For lunch, we do a quesadilla, bread or tortilla with cream cheese and some shredded turkey (this is a new one and he's still iffy on it, but he'll do the plain cream cheese just fine), grilled cheese, yogurt if he didn't have it for b'fast, fruit/veggie puree (the only way I can get veggies into him), and some more fresh fruit pieces. I also will give a handful of cheerios with each meal.
ETA: He's also started a new behavior where he doesn't want the small pieces of sandwiches, waffles, etc that I tear off for him. He wants the whole damn thing, but then he'll suck on it, maybe pull of a couple pieces, then toss the rest on the floor. So, I have to tear it up before he sees it.
