5mo pp and having issues...mommy & daddy time..

Hello Ladies.. I am hoping I might find an answer here. Indifferent I had my twins and my first c-section in January and I healed fairly well..but I am having issues with mommy/daddy fun time. Every now and then it feels like my incision site is getting "hit" from the inside, and last night he pushed a little harder and it felt like it ripped. I know it didn't, but is this normal??  Also ever sense the delivery I haven't been able to complete the mission..so to speak is this normal too...OMG!

On a different note is it normal to have patches of numbness also??

TIA..a completely embarrassed Dustilou..

Oh yes. Sex is still pretty bad. I do it for dh maybe every two weeks but I have no interest. It burns and feels like its ripping. Even with lube. Are you BF? The hormonal changes with BF (low estrogen) cause dryness

  • Nothing to be embarrassed about, but I'd say 5 months out it's probably time to bring it up to your OB.  I didn't have that particular issue but I'd certainly think by 5 months you'd be able to have sex comfortably.  I didn't nurse, though, so maybe pp is onto something with that?

  • I've had 2 c/s and I nursed my first for 13 months and am still nursing my second.

I did not have any issues other than needing to take it very slow the first few times.  I agree with the PP that with these issues at 5 months post partum, you might want to talk to your doctor.

As far as not being able to O, it might be more of a psychological thing for you.  If you're not comfortable during sex and all you can think about is your incision blowing open, no, you're not going to have an orgasm.  You'll need to learn to relax and get it back.

The numbness, though, is completely normal.  My incision still feels numb to the touch.

  • The numbness is normal -  at almost exactly 3 years later I still have hardly any feeling along my scar.

I'd definitely talk to your OB about your concerns about sex.  Resuming sex was painful the first few times, and we definitely took it slow, but 5 months later it was nothing like you are experiencing right now - I definitely felt back to normal.  Sorry you're going through this!  Hope you are able to feel more comfortable soon. :)

    This.

On the numbness part, I think it's still normal to have little patches of it but you probably shouldn't be numb like you were a few weeks PP.

  • Numbness is totally normal, my OB said some women regain all feeling others only regain some.  It all just depends on the person.

I had the same thing happen once a few months ago.  I don't know if it was just the angle/position (it was nothing crazy) but it felt like he was pusing on the incision.  It was the weirdest feeling, I had to switch positions cause ti felt so weird, I can't even explain how it felt though.  It wasn't painful though, if it felt like it ripped and was painful like you said, I would probably call your OB just to make sure it's normal.

  • It doesn't hurt to call your OB, but what you are going through is normal. I told my OB I was having trouble at 7 months and she asked if I was still BFing and I told her that I was and she said it could be a while before things feel good again.

If the pain is excrutiating and/or doesn't go away when you stop then I'd be concerned, but otherwise this is one of those things people just don't bother to tell you. The numbness is very normal also.
