DD doesnt want anyone else..

How long does the seperation anxiety last? DD cries when any one but me or DH hold her. My mom hardly wants to hold her cause she screams! no one can hold her at all! as soon as i take her back she calms down and is fine is it normal to be like this? dd is 6 months..

Re: DD doesnt want anyone else..

  • My daughter has been doing this for almost 2 weeks now and she will be 5 months next week. It is worse when she is tired, she only wants me and me only. If she has never met the person before or doesn't remember somebody she instantly cries when they pick her up regardless if she is tired or not.... As soon as I take her back she stops. I hope it doesn't last too long ;(

  • My daughter has been that way since she like 8 weeks old now 8 months.  Her grandparents can hold her and my husband and I but when I give her to someone else she cries and screams.  Its really hard cause I have family and close friends that we are really close to her but they can't hold her.  At first I felt like i did something wrong and felt guity, but realized she is a very happy baby with people who she feels comfortable with so I just have to accept it and wait for her grow out of it.  Whats making it worse is that I am off on summer vacation from work so I am with her all the time so she is being really clingy to me.  I love it but she doesnt even want to dad to hold her at times.
  • This is happening with our twin girls too! It makes it super hard to go anywhere when DH is at work because even if I go visit friends, they have major "stranger danger," even if they are people they've been around often. They even cry with my MIL. I've heard it's normal at this age though, and my friend told me it's good to keep bringing them to be around people so they can get used to others holding them, but I don't want others to feel uncomfortable with the girls crying and I don't want them to cry hysterically especially, so lose-lose? :( I'm sure they'll grow out of it soon!
