27 months, to be specific. I wouldn't wish that on anyone, not even a worst enemy. After 12 months, go see a Dr about it, and if you're over 30, only wait 6 months to talk to a Dr.

I didn't vote because I'm all over the place. DH and I tried for 15 months before I got pregnant with DD (I had been prescribed Chlomid but ended up getting pregnant without it), and now I'm pregnant again and we were using protection because DD is only 9 mo. We wanted our kids 2-3 years apart, but of course we are thrilled!
Mine was 10 months... We had just had our consultation at the fertility clinic 2 weeks before finding out. I think it must have scared my eggs into action at the thought of all those tests!
This is kind of a hard question for me to answer....we began TTC in April of 2011 (or, maybe what I should say is that we quit preventing). I didn't wise up and start charting or using OPKs until August, got my first BFP in September 2011. Had a m/c in October. Got pregnant again on our first cycle in January 2012. Miscarried on Valentine's day. My third BFP (and this current pregnancy) was again on our first TTCAL cycle and got the BFP in May.
So, the answer is either one month or, if you look at how long we have been doing this, or 12.

With DD it took 3 cycles after stopping BCP and charting. With this LO it was just 1 cycle after Nuva Ring. I was shocked because I was charting but I was sure I was having an annovulatory cycle. My chart still makes no sense but something worked right!
My first BFP took 5 months, this current pregnancy took 7 TTCAL cycles. All in all We've been TTC for 13 months before I got my most recent BFP

BFP#1 took 2 cycles and ended in m/c (blighted ovum) had to tta for 1 whole cycle and then our first cycle back to ttc I got BFP#2. Pretty sure this one's going to stick!
Congrats to my GP Sister from another mister Bruinsbabe!!
I put "beginners luck" because the pregnancy I lost was a 1 month try. I got pregnant again and that took two months. I tracked my fertility with a P Calender on my iPhone and that helped TREMENDOUSLY!
I got off the pill (after 8 years) and had an ovulatory cycle right away, although we weren't trying that first cycle off. The next cycle we were specifically trying and it worked. So, I voted for 1 cycle.
BFP #1 5/12/12; EDD 1/20/13; Eliana Grace born 1/25/13
Both beginners luck (in December) and got a BFP on June 14th after several months (since Feb when my cycle came back after a m/c in January).

My super all about me birth story:
Then: Fraternal twins born at 26 weeks in 1983. Me: 640 grams. Brother: 840 grams. Family kept watch in the NICU for 5 months before being allowed to go home. On oxygen for a year and a half after being released.
Now: Me: PhD student and married. Brother: Lawyer and married.
Dad's wedding speech: Thank you to all the family who stood watch and prayed for our children's survival. Well now the little scrawny chicken is married. Who would've thought? (Thanks dad for making me laugh and cry at the same time).
My BFP Chart
Just for background, I was told that I was infertile when I was 17. When DH and I decided to get married, we decided to hell with the drs, we are going to try. So we were trying before we even got married in June 2011. After a year, I went to a fertility specialist (because they still wouldn't see me until "a year of active trying" was up) until I got dx and got on Clomid in March. First try on Clomid = BFP! So really, it was a surprise to DH and I and was beginner's luck but I clicked 1+yr.
Re: How long did it take you? ( clicky poll)
