Just came back from anatomy scan....
1. Baby has a hole in his/her heart.
2. Umbilical cord only has 2 blood vessels as opposed to the normal 3 vessels.
3. Baby measures in 3%.
Doctor is suspicious of something being wrong (down syndrome) with all three of those results together.
So I had amnio...which I wasn't planning to do until I found out all those results. If anyone out there has any experience/heard of anyone's experience somewhat similar to mine and everything turned out ok...please please please share.
Otherwise, tons and tons of prayers are much appreciated at this point. It has been a very rough morning for my husband and I.
Thank you soo soo much.
Re: most scared I have ever been in my life
I'm really sorry you had such an upsetting a/s.
With ds, we went through some of this. He had a SUA cord (2 vessel). This can lead to restricted growth and pregnancies are watched closely to determine when baby is better out than in.
He was also born with a hole in his heart. But, this could have been related to prematurity and was partially remedied with medication in the NICU.
He had no chromosomal defects.
Because we knew he would be born early (for other reasons), I was put on a high calorie, high protein diet to help him get as big as possible. When he was born at 33 weeks, he was the size of a 35.5 week old.
Sending you lots and lots of good thoughts and prayers.

~Today I am pregnant and I love my baby~
I'm so sorry you're going through this. Hugs to you and YH. I know how hard it is. DD2 had no nasal bone at the first trimester screening, so we went forward with a CVS to rule out chromosonal abnormalities. Everything came back fine, but I was so scared. I will say, don't freak out till you know for sure. Wait for the results of the amnio and go from there. Good luck, and I hope everything is ok with your LO!
The initial bloodwork gave 1 in 64 chance of down syndrome. And now this. I guess all I can do is pray. And thank you so much ladies for your prayers.

I'm so sorry My A/S results were also not what I had hoped for, my little man has a spot on his heart which they think is a calcium deposit and also an enlarged ventricle in his brain. I'm going in for a more detailed ultrasound in a month. I'm sorry I don't know much about your situation but I thought sharing mine could make you feel like you aren't alone! Thoughts and prayers to you and your family.
Thank you for sharing your experiences with me as they have truly helped me to calm down.
And thank you for ALL your thoughts and prayers.

DS had two holes in his heart. They're both expected to close on their own within a couple of years.
Prayers your way. I'm not going to link it now, but if the hole does end up being related to Downs, I went to high school with a girl who just went through this, and I'll share her blog with you (just so you know, very, very, very happy ending!)

My thoughts and prayers will also be with you, YH, and LO.
Good luck and stay strong!
OP, you are in my thoughts! I'm sorry you have to go through this. I hope everything turns out okay!
Granted I don't know enough to tell you this is what you are experiencing, but thought I would let you know that in our case we were told that it was not going to be an issue, so it might not for you either.
The spot would stay the same size, and the baby would grow, so although it won't actually go away, it will seem as if it did. They explained that with improving Ultra Sound technology they are able to see more details, and some of it, like this calcium deposit isn't going to do anything. (They just wouldn't have spotted it before). Hope the enlarged ventricle is something similar as well. Good luck!
My sister is 21 and has a hole in her heart still. She's a very active, sporty girl, and it's only been a problem once (she wasn't hydrated enough.) There are 6 levels of heart problems, and 6 means going in to surgery; she's been at a 5 and it's never changed. I say that to encourage... she's monitored every year or 2 and they always send her home with no meds.
I'll be sending thoughts and prayers your way!! Try not to worry too much, because that'll just drive you crazy, especially when oftentimes test results are wrong.

That is great to know! Thanks so much for sharing, as I'm sure it's hard to relive all that you went through! It gives me hope. Preliminary results come this week. Very anxious and nervous!
