DD hasn't been swaddled since we left the hospital. Well DH decided to start swaddling her again today. Earlier I had swaddled her & DH walks into the room, sees how I did it, took her from me & redid it because apparently I don't know how to. I know how to - it's not rocket science. The problem? I didn't have her legs folded up to her stomach - she was stretched out.
Does it really make a difference? Most of the time she kicks the bottom out anyways. She's always done that (even after the c/s, when they cleaned her up on the warming table/bed thing & the nurse tried to swaddle her - she kept kicking the bottom out!).
Edit: to sorta clarify, I did have the bottom corner of the blanket wrapped up like you're suppose to. Her legs were just laying straight out instead of bunched up.
Re: swaddling question
prob depends on each child, but after reading happiest baby on the block, I see the benefit of wrapping them all up with arms and legs tight! I use the swaddleme wraps and so our boy has his legs contained, but not tight. I just like the convenience of the swaddleme wraps!
Also, maybe your hubby is going off of how they taught him to do it, so he only thinks that way will work?
Our DD has legs out... I think it just depends on what your LO prefers.
The important part is to keep their arms snug at their sides since that is what keeps them asleep (in theory).
