What is it you like about this name? Our girls list is very weak and this is dh's favorite. One of he things I love is the Shakespearean feel. One of the things that stumps me is a nickname. I am ok with Ollie. The thing is I have such an attached feeling to our boy name pick but with Olivia some days I love it and other days I am not sure if it is the one. What do you think?

    Olivia is definitely popular in my neck of the woods, but for good reason -- it's a beautiful name. Liv seems to be the most common nn.

    It's a pretty name, just obscenely popular. The Olivias I know have the nicknames Liv and Livy.

    It's popular, but I've always loved it! I think it's a simple, yet beautiful name!

    I think Olivia is very pretty and Ollie is a refreshing choice for a nickname. I do know a couple of baby Olivias, so it's lost it's appeal a bit for me. But it's classic, feminine and strong so I don't think you can really go wrong with it.

    If the popularity doesn't bother you, it's a beautiful name.  I do like the nn Liv or Livvie better than Ollie.  That looks too much like a nn for Oliver.

    I'm biased but I LOVE Olivia (points to sig)

    We call her Livi, Liv and sometimes Vivi (Vihvee, not VeeVee)

    When we told my dad we liked Olivia his first reaction was "Ollie" but he's kind of a jackass lol  He calls her Livi and we never heard another Ollie after that :)

    I think OIivia is very pretty-  but very popular near me..  I love Liv for a nn  I don't like Ollie at all though.

    This name has gotten very popular and I know lots of girls under the age of 5 with the name.  My sister is 20 and has the name.  She prefers the nickname Liv to Livy.  Also its not meant as a nickname but a lot of people (including me) tend to drop the O and call her livia.

    Olivia was at the top of my girls list for YEARS. But with how popular it's gotten, I've been really deterred from it the past few years. I hate when names get popular. I have a really common first name and I'd like for our baby to have a solid but less popular (but NOT unusual/made-up or trendy).
