Grr, a little gender jealousy! I want to know, dangit!

So, it turns out that my husband's best friends' wife is pregnant as well and is due basically the same time as me. She had her NT scan today and found out what they're having. I know that doesn't happen all the time, but we had our scan last week and we weren't told anything.

 

Boo. I get competetive over stupid stuff like this. After TTC for a year and a half and 3 MC, this is our first real chance to bring a baby home. This is their first pregnancy and such, and I feel out done! How stupid of me!!!

To be honest with you I am the exact same way. It's not like  your hubby's friends are rubbing it in on purpose, however it almost feels like they are (in your head). I felt the same way when we decided to get married and a friend of ours was planning a wedding too. It always felt like they were outdoing us with everything. Just remember you and hubby are in this together and sometimes its better to seperate yourself from ppl who bring you down (Not on purpose) but for your own self esteem and well being:) After all your little on is on its way!! YAY!!

If it makes you feel any better, what they got was a 50/50 guess.  It's still wayyyyy too early to determine the baby's sex.

This. If the sex they were told is right it is because the doctor took a lucky guess!

I bet your friend was told it is a boy. There's no way I would trust that they got the gender right so early, but yeah, there is a 50/50 chance.

I think it's possible for the u/s tech to make a good guess at this point, but I agree with the others, I wouldn't trust it yet. It is probably better for you to not know at all than to be thinking, well it is maybe a boy...

I found out that my daughter was a girl at 14w3d! I think if you have an experienced doctor/tech and great equipment its totally possible, but I am sure they told her its not 100% definate. My doctor told me he was 95% sure! You will find out soon

False. It's around 12 weeks that a trained professional (either a doctor or an ultrasound tech), specifically in early fetus development can detect the sex of the baby. In addition, a 3D/4D ultrasound will provide more weight behind the answer than a standard 2D.
