It was first January 16th, then 11th, now 14th...when does it stop????? Will there be more? how many did you have before it was official? I feel weird telling people different dates, should I just pick one and stick with it? thanks!
Did they really change your due date, or did they just tell you how far along you were measuring based on an ultrasound? Most doctors stick with the first due date they give you unless it changes by more than a week upon subsequent examinations. Babies' growth rates vary, especially as the pregnancy progresses.
It will always change according to the babys growth..... for example.... With my first son, I know I conceived on aug 7th wich would have made my due date may 7... however he ended up being a 10lb baby so they put his due date way earlier... I was induced on April 29th and it was the most horrible experience.... if I would have just waited it out things probably would have been much better... so depending on your babys growth, will determine the doctors date.... but that however does not mean you will go into labor on that day, just whenever baby is ready.
I think it depends on the doctor. Mine changed the EDD once, after the N/T - and it was only 3 days, which is apparently a little unusual to change it for such a small amount of time since it's all an estimate anyway. Just pick a date or even say mid-Jan like PP said.
I like mid-January...Thanks! and Yes, my Dr. changed it 3 times...it's just crazy but when I went for the N/T scan they said it measured 12 weeks and 2 days and I was only 11 weeks and 2 days...so it's so confusing....
I suppose it depends on your practice, but I go to a birth center with certified nurse midwives, and the due date is always based on when you conceived (if you know). With my first two kids, although they measured a couple of days ahead when I had my 20 week u/s, the u/s technicians were very clear that my due date would not be changed.

This exactly. My EDD based onLMP is a few days off from the u/s but since babies come anywhere two weeks before or after that date, the exact date isn't that important. I'd bet they didn't change it in your chart. Stick with the LMP date to tell people. it's easier.

This! Plus only 8% of babies are born on their actual due date.

Actually, If you know you conceived on Aug 7th that means that your EDD would be around April 30th. My calculation is based using a modified Naegele's Rule.
Naegele's Rule is LMP - 3 months + 7 days = EDD
The rule assumes that conception was at 14 days. So if you know date of conception you subtract 7 days (7 days - 14 days = - 7 days).
Modified Naegele's Rule is Date of Conception - 3 months - 7 days = EDD.

Early U/S are accurate +/- a few days.
Later U/S are less accurate. 20 week u/s EDD range is +/- 2 weeks.
I would trust late u/s less than early u/s. I have experience of a doctor knocking off five weeks off of my EDD. I didn't believe him. I was ok with three weeks. (I had quickening three weeks earlier than expected.) But five weeks was wrong. Anyway, I fired that OB practice and my son was born three weeks and three days earlier than my original EDD based on LMP. (So I was correct about knocking of three weeks, instead of five.) A final note: I was not induced with his birth.
Your first ultrasound is the most accurate for dating purposes. After that babies grow at different rates and the dates are inaccurate.

Re: They switched my Due date three times..ugh! Is this normal?
They moved me at my 2nd appt, just because I have no idea when my LMP was.
Typically they don't move you unless it is by a week.
