We had a growth u/s today and they said everything looks great. She thought that baby weighed about 3lbs 2oz and said the baby was in the 65th percentile. What exactly does that mean? Is that good?
Yes it is good. It means that if you were to deliver right now that your baby would be bigger then 65% of any other baby born right now that was due the same time your little one was...its a good thing!
It means that compared to other babies at the same gestation your baby is bigger than 65% of them. Anywhere for 25-80% is considered good but you want the number to stay the same. In other words if today your baby is 65% and in a week it is 30% that would be a problem. But if your baby is 30% today and 30% in a week then that is fine, becuase your baby's growth rate hasn't changed.
but don't freak out if it changes a few points. No, dropping to 30% probably wouldn't be best, but if the baby drops to 60%, it's probably not going to be a big deal.
