For the fact that this clearly wasn't her decision and she's really upset about it - I do feel sorry for her.

But I have NEVER liked her as the co-anchor and even before that, couldn't stand her in-studio interviews.  She was fine on the news desk and I think she's great in the field.  But this role wasn't a good fit for her and I"m not surprised to see this change.  Although, I think how it's been handled is horrible and I think NBC should have thought this through more last year before they ever offered her the job.

Aw geez that made me tear up but thanks for the link. I can't imagine being publicly fired like these ppl in high profile positions have to deal with... I get that she was not as bubbly morning talk show like and I think she is stronger as a humanistic reporter but like pp said, it has only been a year and she's worked there so long you would think they'd know her strengths/weaknesses back then. Oh well, hopefully she will love her new role & adventure.

I agree it wasn't the best role for her.  I really liked Meredith the best.  It was a horrible situation, but I guess considering how NCE handled the whole Leno/O'Brien situation, this didn't surprise me.

Also there is the whole angle that Guthrie (Ann's most likley replacement) had an affair with Lauer.

OK this is so sad and horrible that NBC handled it this way.  I loved Ann but agree that co-host was not the best spot for her...but Savannah Guthrie??  Didn't she just join the show recently and before that was the legal correspondent?  Blech.  Natalie Morales would've gotten my vote - love her!

what the what? was that the one they talked about during the olympics 2 yrs ago? I thought she was really new to the show also & was surprised she would get the anchor spot.

Someone told me to re-watch & look at the body language, it is interesting how her legs are crossed away from him & she has her arms crossed for much of it when he talks and when he is complimenting her she never looks at him really but when Al & Natalie talked, she looked at them, smiled, interacted....
