Pregnant after 35

Anybody planning not to register?

I don't think I want to register, We (DH & I) plan on buying the larger things ourselves.  I'm also not sure if I'm going to get a shower (see previous post) so I would feel weird stalking my registry if no movement happens.

Anybody doing the same? or am I the odd man out? Thanks in advance.

  • We won't be registering, but then this is our third!  Although I will be creating a registry since you get coupons and deals when you do it.  I just won't be sharing it with anyone.  I used it more to keep track of things I was interested in with my dd.
  • This is my first baby and even though I am not having a shower I still registered.  Mainly for the completion coupons.  Since we were buying all the stuff ourselves we figured we might as well get a discount on it.  Then it turned out a couple of my friends asked if I was registered and they bought a few things from the registery.

I would definately say register, if for anything else for the completion coupons to save a bit of $$.

  • No one cared enough about me or my children  to give me a shower for either pregnancy... so Im pretty sure the same will be for this baby.... so I wont be registering.....again.    (insert pregnancy hormones)

  • I did not register for either of my other two children, and won't be registering for this one. We buy all of the gear ourselves, and we received gifts of the smaller things like clothing, toys, books, and some care items like baby bath, lotions, diapers, that sort of thing. Also, a lot of the things we buy are from smaller, local stores, or from a variety of chains, rather than getting everything from one place.

  • We registered, but only for two reasons... the coupons and to keep a list of the things we need to get. This is #2 for us (2nd boy), and we kept everything from #1, so we don't need much, mainly replacement bottles, and diaper bags, and I want a cosleeper this time. We still have the travel system, crib, and tons of newborn clothes.

As far as I know, there isn't a shower planned for us, and I would think if there was going to be one, I'd have heard about it by now (being 12 weeks from EDD and all)

I'm a FTM but not having a shower (SIL offered to host but I declined, as most of my friends/family are scattered all over the country/world).  However, I still will register, probably on amazon.  I think some of my friends may ask me if/where I registered and I'd rather them get me things that I really want/need than things that I don't want.

  • We didn't plan on registering but did since we ended up having a shower.  We bought all of the big stuff ourselves and only put items $50 and under on the registry.  Once my shower was over and I received my completion coupon, I added the more expensive items so I could get the discount!!

  • I'm not having a shower either as my friends/family are all over the world and we're moving next month to a city where we know no one.  I did register with Target and Amazon, however, only for the completion coupons.  I've been researching prices on the larger items and figure the 10% is better than a poke in the eye!

  • I would register for the mere convenience of having a list of everything you need and may want.

If you are online a bit, amazon registry is great.  They offer a universal registry, too, which allows you to add items from other sites to your amazon list.  Plus I finally signed up for amazon mom so shipping on most items is free.

  • This is my 2nd baby, but with our first I didn't want a shower.  Everyone kept telling em you have to - you've given so many gifts.....but I didn't want the attention like my bridal shower.  I did register b/c I was clueless on what I needed - what kind of stroller, bath tub, car seat, etc.  It helped when I'd done my research to add it on.  I really kept it to the basics.  My mom, sistters and 2 friends who did not have showers bought things off of it.  We recieved a lot of clothes (which i was warned about by those who did not have showers) and unfortunatley he never got to wear half of them, so much was from the same stores that reciepst got mixed up, we got 2's and 3's of items or i was getting $3 back for items the person paid $20 for by the time I got to return them.  So honestly I'd register for your own sanity...
  • I am not registering.

  • I would register just so that if anyone does ask you where you're registered at they can get something that you want off of your list.

I got married and didn't have a wedding or shower or anything and I can't tell you how much grief I got from people that wanted to get me stuff but didn't because I wasn't registered.

Appease your friends and family and just go register. Plus like the other ladies said you can get the coupons. Saving money never hurt anyone.
