Baby Names

Opinions

DH and I are both of British ancestry. His first name is Scottish. Mine is English. Our last name is Scottish. We gave DD a Welsh first name. So we are wanting to stick with our British theme.

We are thinking Gwen for a girl (possibly even Guinevere, although I know this is the French spelling). Thoughts on both? Not sure on a middle yet.

For a boy, we like the nickname Bran, so we were thinking possibly Brannon or Branson (I hate the last one though -- DH's idea). Thoughts? Middle name for the boy would be Stuart (after DH's bro).

  • I LOVE Gwen!! If you're unsure about Guinevere, would you consider Gwendolyn or Gweneth?

  • I am sorry but I don't like Bran. I think of Bran Flakes. And Brannon and Branson are last names of people I know.

I like Gwen! I prefer the Gwendolyn spelling though.

     Congrats!

  • Love Gwen and love Guinevere even more!

    Bran is awful!

  • I like Guinevere.

I dont love any of the boy names, but out of the three Branson is my favorite.

I like Finley and I think it could work for boy or girl..but I believe it is Irish name.

  • Gwen and Guinevere are both lovely. I also like Gwendolyn and Gwyneth.

The boy names are nms, but I prefer Brannon over Branson. Branson reminds me of Branson, MO - the kitschy little tourist town.

  • I like Gwendolyn.

Bran could also be short for Brandon...I don't like your other two options.

  • Love Gwen, but think it would be best as a nn for either Guinevere or Gwendolyn. Bran's not good. How about Abram with the nn Bram? PP's suggestion of Finley is also nice, although I prefer the spelling Finlay. Rhys is another great Welsh name.
