Denton Area: Presby, Dr. Cortez, Dr. Dooley?

I don't see a lot of Denton moms on here... From what I gather, Presby is a more advanced hospital for childbirth (with the level III NICU), and it's also the hospital my regular doc is aligned with, so I think I wan to stick with them. Actually I think it is now Texas Health Resources Denton... Has anyone delivered with Dr. Cortez, or Dr. Dooley? I want a female OBGYN, and once I narrow it down to those who accept my insurance and deliver at Presby, I think there are only a handful. Any thoughts?

  • I just started seeing Dr. Dooley and I love Love, LOVE her and her staff. Yesterday, I was having some BH and they fit me right in and checked me all out and didn't even act like I was inconveniencing anyone to come in right before they closed. So far I have seen her, her NP and Dr. Walsh's NP and they are all fantastic.

Dr. Dooley was recommended to me from some one from the TMA, so I trusted their referral.

  • I delivered at Denton Presby in 2006 and was thoroughly impressed!  L & D rooms are so comfy and upgraded!  My Dr. was Dr. McDonald.  Wouldn't necessarily tell you to see him though.  Was a good Dr., but wouldn't use him now.  Good luck.

  • I am 14 weeks along and Dr. Dooley was recommended by my sister in law! She has been wonderful so far.  The entire staff is really nice and helpful also!
  • Denton Presby is a great place to deliver, and their NICU is fantastic. I use Dr. McDonald and love him, but he's a guy, so that's moot anyway!

  • Thanks so much for all the recommendations. I ended up choosing Dr. Cortez, and so far I really like her, and the staff. The location is perfect for me, since it's right on 380 (there really isn't much out here!)

Another question for y'all - did you take any classes when you were pregnant? I noticed Baylor Frisco offers all of theirs free, but not Presby Denton. I want to take classes whenever I go get pregnant, but I'm wondering if the cost is worth it.
