Tips on Cleaning Toys

Hello Ladies!

I received a number of gently used toys from my SIL.  They are all in great condition, however, many of them need to be washed- especially the stuffed animal like ones.  My dilemma is that many of the ones that need to be washed the most have noise makers (like music) or rattles on the inside.  Others have that crinkle like paper inside.  Can these be washed?  If so, what is the best way?

P.S. I did look at the tags but many don't say or are worn off.

Thanks so much!!

  • I would just throw them in the washer...I've done it before with stuff I questioned.

  • Same as previous poster. I have just washed on the gentle cycle and they came out totally fine even though the tag said not to. I would have only use used toys if they could be deep cleaned in a washer. If they could only be spot cleaned I would not bother using them. Fyi, I'm talking about soft toys. All of the hard surface toys get deeped cleaned submerged in a bucket of my cleaning solution that I get from Trader Joes and then get rinsed and dried.

  • Plastic toys that don't make noise i.e. stacking cups, play dishes and food and such, can go through the dishwasher.
