Pregnant after IF

anyone with skin issues/rashes?

Hi Everyone, I hope you all are feeling good!!

I am trying to find out this info on my own before I call my Dr.... I have always had pretty sensitive skin but it has definitely gotten worse since becoming pregnant.  I tried putting bio-oil on my stomach and I guess I had a bad reaction to it because now my stomach is all broken out and itchy.  Does anyone know for absolutely sure if it is ok to use cortizone? I get this type of rash all the time and I normally use this cortizone liquid dabber thing and it helps tremendously but I have read conflicting information as to whether or not it is safe during pregnancy. Does anyone know for sure? Thanks a bunch for any info!

Re: anyone with skin issues/rashes?

  • It appears that I am developing PUPPS, or very itchy bumps in my lovely stretch marks. I see my OB on Friday to confirm, but she told me to use hydrocortisone cream on it until then. I hope it helps! I know how miserable it is.

  • I have nasty eczema on my middle and ring fingers on my left hand - it's sooo itchy!  My OB told me to use Aquaphor and over-the-counter hydrocortisone to relieve the discomfort.  She said they try to avoid pregnant women using the super-strong cortisone treatments, but those are rx-only.  If what you have came from a store without a rx, it's probably fine :)

Thanks everyone!! From what I read it seemed like over the counter cortisone stuff was ok but I feel better knowing you guys heard it from your Dr.'s as well...Maybe the website I was reading about cortisone not being ok was referring to the rx stuff.

    Thanks again!

  • I have sensitive skin and find that usually when I get a rash putting anything on it makes it worse. I checked with my OB and it's fine to take a benedryl, which helps me more than anything topical. I have a terrible rash from "sensitive skin" sunscreen. Of course the regular sunscreen didn't bother me a bit.
