Trying to Get Pregnant

Random question

Ok, so if I don't get KU this cycle when can i have a bottle of wine and not feel like I may be harming something that is happening inside of me. ie, i am going camping in NY in July and if I'm not preggers i would love to enjoy the weekend with friends, drink beer etc...but only if i knew i was in the clear......all you experienced ladies. Can you shed some light on this? Would it only be during AF that it would be completely safe to do so?

Thanks!

  • Hmmm I would do as normal till I got a BFP but I'm not a heavy drinker either. I don't think it is healthy to drink too much all the time while TTC but I think you can enjoy your vacation with some drinks!

  • Thanks ladies! I'm still learning all the lingo around here...."drink till it's pink" copy that! I wasn't going to binge drink or anything, just thought sitting around the camp fire sipping on a frothy beverage versus a lemon water sounded way more more fun.....

When you read all these articles about trying to conceive they tell you to quit drinking, no coffee and stop smoking. I'm fine with no smoking as I'm not a smoker, but no coffee? Really? So, i had to kick that to the curb, i dont see anything wrong with drinking a cup o' joe in the a.m. and if there is then i'm screwed!

  • Fabulous! I drink a cup a day and I don't do soda so I'm good on that.

On another note.....my sister had an occasional glass of red wine while she was preggers (with both of her babies) or a single beer with dinner. Nothing more than that but some people scoff at that. With all the contradicting information out there, how do you know what to believe? One doc says it's fine, one says absolutely not. GAH! So confusing.

If I can't find a definite yes or no answer, I err on the side of caution. It just isn't worth the "what ifs" IMO.

Wow! Lighten up a little! You get scolded around here for the silliest things....... I can see why women drop off this board.Preggers= pregnant, same number of letters yes but if i prefer to use it over pregnant because i think it sounds cute, that's a no no and my intelligence is questioned? Gimme a break. Looks like you need a drink!  Lame reply and really not necessary.

  • I just don't see the reason for it. I received some really nice answers and thanked everyone for them, then I get a resposne like that. What's the point of it, is it really that important to correct my grammer because it's not something they would say themselves? It's actually quite silly...oops that's probably an immature word to use too. Why can't we all just get along, no cattiness needed!

You never share a blood supply with the baby.

And sorry, OP - "preggers" is completely annoying. Here's hoping you don't have to stick around long enough to see it said 400 times.

Its right up there with "prego" or its variation, "preggo." Ick!

I totally agree with you and think the same about KTFU.    I just don't get the need to correct people.  If everyone corrected every thing they found annoying,  this board wouldn't function.  People should just post what they want, and others should keep their mouths shut,  IMHO at least.

Aw, do you want a crown for that?

Baby talk annoys me enough to point it out and ask that people talk their age and hopefully their maturity level.

It's never been an "accepted" term on this board. I was pointing that out to her since she was new and may not have known.

No.  I'll save that for you.  I'm sure TB will send it along for stepping up to correct people.  TB's opinion on all sorts of things changes frequently,  considering the nature of the boards.

Oh sheesh, here we go. Really? Let the cat fight begin. I haven't dissed anyone on here, I'm an extremely nice person and have been respecful and THANKFUL to those who speak in a respectful manner. I think we can all talk like adults around here, no need for name calling but thank you for calling me a crapa$$ anyway. There's a way of saying things to people. The way the old wise GM approached it was in a condescending manner. I think some people like being a$$holes to people just because they're behind a computer screen. If it had been said like this "just a heads up, a lot of people on these boards prefer the word pregnant to preggers or preggo" that is completely different. But when you're "rude/blunt" expect a response. Just because she has been on the boards for 4 years doesn't mean anything. I'm a newbie, I had no idea it would cause such an uproar. It's sad really. I just wanted an opinion

    I am 12!

I secretly LOVE the feistiness of this board, especially Ghost Monkey. It's the little things in life that make me  a happy woman...err pre-teen. The fact that this much energy is being put into this post is thrilling. Thanks everybody else besides her, you all have been kind in explaining the difference. Now, of you'll excuse me I have to go watch the latest One Direction video on Youtube and put on some Dr. Pepper flavored lip gloss. *high five*

Are you trying to be funny? Because this wasn't at all.

Wow what a crapa$$ you are. GM is wise. Blunt, but wise.

And there's nothing wrong with Dr. Pepper lip gloss. Way to diss everyone and everything you know nothing about!

You know, if you just let it go and back away from this thread, it'll blow over.  The more you keep picking at it, the less likely it will be for you to get kind, knowledgeable answers when you do need them.

Dude.  Take a step back and take a breath.  This isn't a hill upon which to die.  Preggers, or any variation, is generally looked down upon here.  It's a reality of the board.  Listen to it an move on.

You can't read tone over the internet.  Chillax!

Actually, GM told you pretty nicely that you would sound more intelligent if you didn't use the word "preggers" and you flipped your sh*t.
