I'm totally at a loss for a name if baby #2 is a girl. Lately I've been liking Mila, but I'm concerned no one will ever be able to pronounce it.
My other question is . . . do you think it's a trendy name? DD1 is Lucy, which I consider semi-classic (I know it's gaining popularity), so I don't want a totally trendy name to go with it. I saw the suggestions that Kourtney Kardashian might name her daughter Mila in the post below because it seems trendy. Haha. What do you think? Too trendy?

Re: How do you pronounce Mila? (Clicky Poll)
I always thought she pronounced it meye-la! I could be wrong though!
I thought this too, Mee-la.
My manager's daughter just named her DD this. They say it Mee-lah.
Pretty name, but maybe a tiny bit on the trendy side.

Mila Kunis is pronounced Mee-la, it is also my nieces name and it is pronounce Mee-la
When I see it, I read it as Mill-ah, with a short i. It looks like Mee-la is more common though.
Mila= long E
Myla=long I
This. I don't know any IRL, although I have a friend who was considering naming her baby Mila if it was a girl (turned out to be a boy). I really like it!
Our friends named their daughter this.
Mom calls her Mill-a and Dad calls her Mee-la.
Instinctively upon reading it I always want to pronounce it My-la (and do in my head), but knowing how Mila Kunis (and Milla Jovovich, though her spelling is slightly different) pronounces it, I would say it aloud as Mee-la.
I don't personally know anyone with this name, so I can't say how popular it is, but I would imagine if you're going for the Mee-la pronunciation it sounds a lot like Mia, which is quite popular.

Mee-la. I think the first time I read it I might have thought it was Mil-la. I would never think My-la. I think of the actress, like most other people have stated.
I think it goes nice with Lucy. I think it's definitely gaining. Of the Mia/Maya/Mila suggestions I think Mila is the least popular and least trendy. I don't think it's going to skyrocket. It does seem like it's on a lot of people's lists on here, but so is Isla (one of many examples I could give). Just because it appears on the list doesn't mean it's what they choose and therefore it doesn't add to the popularity. It seems like a name that everyone wants to date but very few are actually marrying (IMO, a mark of a pretty good name- familiar but distinct!)
This exactly. Also, I have a 6-year-old niece named Mila. It is so perfect for her and I would consider it for a girl if we didn't already have one in the family. They call her Mimi sometimes as a nickname. I have also know one Myla that is high school age. I do think Mila is starting to rise in popularity, but it has nothing on the Isabella and Sophia type names when it comes to current trends. I don't think it will ever become "too" trendy.

I know a 3 year old little girl with this name. They spell it Mila and pronounce it Mill-ah. I think it is adorable.
Yup.
