biting me!

My LO just got his 4th tooth.  He now has the two top and two bottom teeth.  He recently started biting me.  He just comes over and bites whatever body part is closest, my legs, arms, shoulder...yesterday he bit my face!  It's not super hard and doesn't draw blood, but needless to say, I want him to stop.  I have tried a firm 'no' and pulling him away, but he just smiles at me.  Any suggestions??

Re: biting me!

  • Sorry, no suggestions...but a similar situation.  DD has started slapping/ scratching our faces.  Poor DH has marks on his cheeks.  Most of the time it is just collateral damage when we lean in for a kiss and she gets excited and grabs our face. But once, she was having a little tantrum in the floor, turned, grabbed DH's face and 'attacked' him.  We laughed at the time - but now wonder if we should employ some sort of verbal correction.

I am interested in reading the advice you receive.  Hopefully it benefit us as well.

  • I do a firm "NO BITING" and get up and walk away for a minute or two. He cries about it but he needs to know that it is completely unnaceptable. Obviously it hurts when they bite us but we can deal with it. If they bite strangers or other kids, it will be a much bigger issue. I had to do this a handful of times before he "got it' and it was tough to let him sit there alone and cry but we havent been bit since.
