So baby's baptism is coming up and I was wondering if it is normal to give a gift to the godparents? When I became a god-mama my friend gave me a necklace. I asked my mom an idea for a gift and she said that it was not customary to give the godparents gifts. Rather, for the godparents to give my DD something.
So... What is the consensus?
If I am supposed to give a gift... Perhaps give me some ideas?
Re: Baptism Gift
In our family, we do give gifts (and also receive them). Nothing huge, just more of a memento.
I think with our first we gave a photo of LO in a "godmother" frame.
It is customary in our family to give gifts to the Godparents and vice versa. I think it is very special to be a godparent so I went a little overboard. I purchased a nice watch for the Godfather ($75) and a necklace with both DS and Godmother's birthstones in it. The necklace is also engraved with "I love you Godmother" on it.
Totally up to you how elite you want to go...I think most people who do give gifts do a framed picture of the child or a godparent mug type of thing.
