breathing

okay, I don't know how to explain it.  If I breathe through my mouth it's fairly normal feeling, but when I breathe through my nose it's like it's super plugged/stuffed and I can't get a good breath in (like I'm suffocating).  Does that make sense??  Anyone else experiencing this? Is it normal??  It's not like he's squishing my lungs (well maybe?!), I don't know.

Sorry if that doesn't make sense!

Re: breathing

  • I've been having the exact problem the last two days. I have no idea what's causing this but it's frustrating!

  • Remember reading that stuffy/snuffle nose is caused by pregnancy, but can't remember why.

Hope you both are breathing better soon!

I believe that the stuffiness has to do with the increase of blood vessels in your nose. I've been dealing with this also.

  • This has been me lately, and it's worst when I lie down to sleep. It doesn't feel like I'm stuffed up, just like my nasal passages are constricted. So frustrating :-( I've had sinus problems for a while now, so I just figured pregnancy was exacerbating them. I haven't talked to my doctor about it yet, but I have heard that pregnancy can bring on sinus-related issues. So fun!

There is a condition called pregnancy sinusitis or something. Apparently it's really common.

I wake myself up at night when I can't breathe, because my throat is stuffed up. But in the day I'm fine.

  • Totally normal, happens to me every pregnancy. Wait until your lungs feel like they aren't getting enough oxygen. And that goes on for months!!!

That's where I am.  I have woken up the past two nights in sheer panic because I can't take a good deep breath.  I've actually taken to sleeping  a sitting position to help me.  It is so scary.
