DH and I originally wanted to use the name Sasha for a DD, but something about it never quite stuck for me. It seems a bit too much of a NN to me, I've known a couple dogs by the name Sasha, and others have told me they feel it is more of a masculine name. Then DH told me yesterday that it feels too popular (in Russia, mostly) for his taste.
I started looking around at other names and came across Olesya, which is another Russian (possibly Ukrainian) variant of Alexandra. When I looked at it, I knew how to pronounce it right off the bat. But I've shown it to a couple friends and they weren't sure how to say it. Just by looking at it, does anyone have an idea on how to pronounce it?
For the record, it's pronounced AA-les-ya.
Re: Olesya?
I thought it was an extra creative way to spell Alicia
