Birth Certificate?

Did any of you ladies opt to recieve a birth certificate for you angel? What did it look like? Was it just like a regular one?

I'm just curious because I was looking forward to getting Olivia's. It finally came the other day & I was so excited to open it. I unfolded the paper and it had "DECEASED" in big black letters across the entire thing. So not what I was expecting. I guess thats why you have to request to have one sent out in PA?

If anyone else had this issue does anyone know if there is a way to get a "normal" one? Yes my daughter passed away BUT she was born alive & lived for almost 5 hours! For all that I would have just stopped at the death certificate & not harrassed vital statistics for months.

As far as I know, we never received a birth certificate. I say as far as I know, because in the time right after she died, MH thought he was being helpful by hiding things.Genevieve was alive 37 days. She had come home and everything. I heard maybe I was supposed to go pick it up somewhere, but never got the details. We have the death certificate, but I have never looked at it. I felt like it was too morbid for me to deal with that we got her death certificate before her birth certificate. As time as gone by, it has become less important to me. Sorry I can't offer any help

My daughter was born sleeping, but Texas offers a certificate of birth resulting in stillbirth. My mother ordered one for Patricia. They take the information from the death certificate to fill it out so you have to wait for that to be processed first. It doesn't mean a lot to me now, but I'm glad she did it because it might mean more later.

I called my hospital's records departement and they gave me the number for the department of vital statistics.  Once I called them, I was able to order one for $19.00, but it said "DECEASED" on it as well

DH and I were able to get both Ethan's birth and death certificates. We had to go through county records for the birth certificate but the funeral home sent us his death certificate.His birth certificate looked like a regular one and didn't have the black lettering (but I'm not sure if that's just a California thing).

The funeral home took care of the death certificates, so we didn't have to deal with that.  But we needed his birth certificate for insurance, so I had to go to the county building and get copies.  It doesn't say deceased, but it was almost worse to have to deal with the chatty clerk and the other older ladies in line, who kept saying "what a blessing being a new mother is!" and telling me about when their kids were born and how excited they were.  I didn't want to get into it right there in line with them, especially since it was just a few days after he died, but I went home and cried for the whole rest of the day.  I really wish I could have gotten them in the mail.

I'm also in Texas and Robin lived for 6 days and his birth certificate has "deceased" stamped on it.  I know the state of TX also has an "unofficial" birth certificate that I think has either a teddy bear or the lone star or something like that, that can be ordered from vital stats.  I don't think that would have deceased on it since it isn't official or anything, just something you can put in a frame or scrapbook.  If that is something you are looking for and your state doesn't have one, maybe you or a friend can make one for you.
