Question about Pumps and Bottles

Does your pump and the bottles you use need to be the same brand?  What are the advantages and disadvantages?

TIA!

Re: Question about Pumps and Bottles

  • I'm getting a Medela pump and registered for Medela bottles.  I did receive a few Advent and not sure if they will fit but will try.

I used a Medela Swing for occassional bottles. I would pump, pour into a storage container (I think the brand was Avent) and then would freeze or refidgerate those and then when to room temp pour into the bottle (either Dr Brown or TT Closer to Nature)...so whatever is easiest for you :)

  • Nope. I have a medela pump and pumped into medela or similac bottles- whatever was clean. Then, I would put in a lanisoh freezer bag or pour it into his bottles (either playtex drop ins or Breastflow).

  • I'm going to be getting the Ameda and it has a $10 or so adapter available that will take different bottles like the Avent.  I imagine if I'm pumping though (provided everything with latching goes well) that I'll probably just pump into the included bottles and pour into Lansinoh bags to freeze.
