3rd Trimester

if you had a successful external version, how long before you went into labor on your own?

My MD has stated that if my version (scheduled for Friday) works, and little miss stays in place- that they will just send me home and wait for me to go into labor naturally on my own..

So my question is- if you have had this done- how long after did you go into labor?

In the meantime I am doing some things on my own to try to get her to flip.

Thanks in advance!

  • This doesn't exactly answer your question, but I had one last Tuesday at 37 weeks 4 days, and I still haven't gone into labor.  I had mild contractions that day, but they did a follow up ECV after the procedure and sent me home a few hours later.  I did pack a hospital bag for the ECV because they told me there was a small chance of it either (1) causing you to go into labor or (2) requiring an emergency C section should something not go well.

I really hope your version goes well and flips your baby!  Can you get into the chiro this week?  I did 5 visits with a Webster trained chiro, and even though baby didn't flip on it's own, I think the adjustments and work on my ligaments may have contributed to the success of the ECV.

I know how upsetting and nerve-wracking the whole thing is, and my T&P are with you that it works and gets your baby head down.  GL and you must update us!

  • I had a version last Tuesday that was successful and I am waiting to go into labor.  I am 37 weeks 3 days today. I am just hoping that little one stays head down and doesn't flip back.

Good Luck!  None of the things I read about to get your baby to flip worked for me.

  • Thanks ladies!! I appreciate the positive vibes!

Do either of you know if they will do another ultrasound as you are about to have the baby to ensure they "stuck" into position?

Thanks so much! Hope both of your babies stay down!!

  • I had the version on Tuesday and my weekly appointment was Friday.  They did a very quick scan just to confirm baby had stayed head down (and he/she had).  I doubt they will do another one because I can tell how different the baby feels now (and moves/kicks).. I think I would know if it moved back to breech.  Plus the odds of that happening are 5% or less!  If you have any other questions please ask!
