Waxing-NBR

I just want opinions on waxing. I have never had a bikini wax or other wax for that matter to maintain down there, I just use a trimmer and that is that. Lately I have noticed that it is starting to get harder to keep it looking ok and was thinking about getting a bikini wax. I think I have read that it is safe during pregnancy, but I worry that it will hurt or what the person will say if it looks too bad. If anyone has any advice or information I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

  • Well, is there any reason to perform upkeep down there? Is your hair making you uncomfortable?  Because honestly, although waxing is safe during pregnancy, I personally would find it uncomfortable and probably painful because of all the extra blood and swelling down there right now.  I like to keep my lady parts in complete comfort, haha.

Also, no bikini waxer would say something about how it looks!  Not if she wants a tip she won't.

  • I had my first ever Brazilian last week, and it wasn't bad at all. Yes, it was a little uncomfortable, but not nearly as bad as I had thought it would be. The anxiety leading up to it was way worse than the wax itself. I took one extra strength Tyenol an hour before, and I only started to get a little sore to the touch around evening time, but it was fine by the next afternoon.

  • A few years ago I would get monthly Brazilian waxes. I have not gotten a wax in a few years but in my opinion they did not hurt. I plan on getting a bikini wax closer to my due date. I am going to have my husband trim down the hair for me because in my opinion, it hurts less if the hair is shorter. I stopped shaving because I couldn't see anymore and I was getting an immense amount of ingrown hairs since becoming pregnant. You will be just fine and yes it is perfectly safe during pregnancy. Happy grooming!

I'm thinking about turning it over to the professionals after my experience yesterday.

TMI, probably, but I like the Brazillian for me- I find having hair usually itches for some reason, and I'm prone to razor burn. Plus, here in SC, the summers are unbearably hot & muggy, and I feel cleaner without having hair to trap sweat and whatnot.  Usually I just shave and have no problem, but I cut myself to bits yesterday because I couldn't properly see what I was doing.

I'm going to start scheduling Brazillian waxes probably every 8 weeks from now until I can see myself again. I've done it a few times before, and yes, they hurt, but they're worth it.  If you don't want to go completely bare, the deep bikini is a good option as well.

  • If you are a waxing newbie, I suggest going bikini vs. brazilian to start off. Brazilian takes everything (and I mean everything) and yes, it does hurt quite a bit more while pregnant. I have a fairly high pain tolerance and it still hurts more while pregnant, but I keep at it every 5 weeks.

Trust me, no matter how bad it looks down there, they won't tell you. They've likely seen worse anyway :)

My advice is to take two Tylenol about 30 minutes before the appointment, this will help reduce the pain/redness/inflammation.

It's worth it in the end to feel clean, good luck!

  • I had my first Brazilian done on Saturday and it hurt for the 2 seconds it took while pulling the strip.  After that I was fine. I hadn't ever waxed prior to being pregnant, but if the pain I experienced is the worst of it then I'm going to keep doing this from now on.  The Spa I used recommended me to come in every 6 weeks due to fast hair growth during pregnancy, but you can go as often as you want.

     It's really worth it!!
