IUI experts... come on in. (intro)

Hi ladies,

I'm on my way to my first IUI and would like some advice for those of you who have been there done this before. I had a cd 9 u/s on Friday (just in case since I have quite a few 27 day cycles) and showed 2 follicles one 12 and one 10. This morning cd 12 u/s showed one follicle grew to 14 and the other shrunk to 8.9. The nurse said she wanted the RE to review my scan and they would call to have me come in Wed/Thurs. I've been doing my research on here trying to figure out what is going on. This is my first medicated cycle and before I O'd cd 13-15.So I'm hoping that the Letrozole is just slowing up O and the follicles will continue to grow, or at least the one. My BIGGEST worry is RE reviewing and cancelling because I'm not responding enough. Any thoughts on what might be going on? I've already prepared myself for disappointment (getting used to it.)  The only thing that gives me hope is that she sent me home with a specimen cup

Mini Intro: TTC 18 months, DH perfect and I have Unicornate Uterus no left tube or ovary and left pelvic kidney. One c/p 5 weeks

I feel like the first medicated cycle is always a big experiment and you just have to hope that you'll see some progress later in the week.  Since follicles are supposed to grow 2 mm per day coming back in on Wednesday or Thursday seems like a pretty standard course of action. Welcome and good luck.

Welcome to the board. I hope your appointment goes well later this week. I had a follie shrink this cycle too and the RE had not idea why. So I really can't help with that. I'm sure the others will continue to grow though. My RE doesn't cancel a cycle unless he really knows there is no hope of anything working. I'm on CD 24 and still haven't O'ed and he's not cancelling the cycle. So I'm sure you will be fine. Good luck this cycle!

No idea about the shrinking follie, but the other one seems on track. My O on meds was pretty consistent...I had worried that I would miss it b/c if when I naturally O, but the meds change what your body does. You are unlikely to O before our follies get to the right size. Most REs trigger in the 18mm range. As long as your one keeps on growing, you should be a go for IUI. Maybe that other one will turn around and catch up, too. Or maybe it was just oddly squished and that messed up the measurement.

This is what I have been worrying about and hoping someone would tell me. Thank You! Now to sit and anticipate until they call again. I swear they call within their last 5 minutes of business hours every time.

Update:

 Apprantley I already O'd, felt the pain yesterday and let my nurse know. They had me come in this morning for u/s and bw. Bw showed I most likely O'd monday and they are unsure of how they weren't able to see that I was close since I was in for an u/s Monday morning. UH how frustrating, so much for the IUI. I should be covered in case there is any chance of naturally conceiving but I'm guessing my chances are extremely low since the biggest follicle was 14mm. Until next month..... wonder what's next.
