constant back pain?

I know this is a stupid question but I've horrible back pain for a couple weeks now, low and dull and achey and sometimes crampy feeling.  I know its probably way too early for a contraction right?  ?My belly doesn't feel hard, but its constant pain, should i be worried?   I guess I'm just nervous because its twins and  I read too much about pre-term labor and one of the symptoms being low back pain!

Re: constant back pain?

  • I had the same thing a couple of weeks ago.  I would call your dr. - mine ended up not being labor, but it made me feel a LOT better to get it checked out and hear it was just growing pains!  (which it probably is  -you are growing faster than someone with only 1 baby!)
  • It probably is too early for it to be PTL, but it is always a good idea to be rediculously paranoid and cautious when you're pregnant with multiples. Call your doctor to make sure :)

And, FWIW, being pregnant with twins made my back hurt A LOT, and it made me grow by about 2 inches. I think it straightened out my scoliosis, as crazy as that sounds. I did get a referall for PT to help with my back pain, but I was put on bedrest before I was able to schedule the PT, so I have no idea if it really helps.

  • At 15 weeks I had Round Ligament Pain which was very painful from the right side of my hip to the right side of my lower back.  Not sure if thats what your feeling, I would definitley ask your doctor at your next appointment.
  • I had some frigg'n terrible back pain at 17 weeks. Mine was a minor skeletal/muscular issue, but my doctor was glad to see me. Kidney/UTI/gallbladder complications can cause back pain, too

    See your doctor.
