Re: PG>35 weekly Check-in

  • Hi Ladies!

Hope you all had a great weekend.  Mine was interesting.  LOL.

QOTW:    What are the hobbies/sports/activities that you do, that you couldn't imagine not having in your life?

I am a crazy hockey fan, so I couldn't imagine my life without seasons tickets to my local club.  I am also on the board for our team, so I couldn't imagine not being involved with the team in that capacity either.   I also can't sleep if I don't read every night before bed, so I'd be miserable if I couldn't do that.  I love to scrapbook....it's addictive and my DS is a perfect subject.  It's fun to document his life in pictures.

    Updates or vents?

I have my OB appt this Thurs.  I can't wait.  It's been a rough few weeks since I was diagnosed with my large SCH.  This will be the 1st time I have seen the doc since the diagnosis.  I'm also curious as to some of the other details that were on the u/s report and hope to get clarification.  I think he'll schedule my a/s at this appt too, so that is exciting.  DS broke his arm last tuesday (he's 2.5) and it is his dominant arm, broken just above the elbow, so he's in a cast from his wrist to 1/2 way between his elbow and his armpit.  Poor kid, he is such a trooper, but it's going to be a long month.  He gets so frustrated when he can't do the things he's used to and I am not looking forward to him figuring out he can't go in a swimming pool for a month.  Better now, than when the baby comes, but it's tough, especially since I can't lift him because of the SCH.

  • OK my vent is replying to this post.I have tried 3 times and it is not posting what I type just what I copied!

I am also a huge hockey fan! This time of year drags with no hockey to watch. Luckily in MN not only do we have our pro team but several good college teams and high school hockey. The high school tournament in March is wonderful! I have several blogs I have to read everyday.

I am also a big reader and bring my Nook everywhere.

I enjoy gardening. It is something I started after my dad dies to just keep up his gardens but really enjoy the time outside playing in the dirt.

    Updates:

Had my amnio on Fri now the wait begins. They had to remind me to breathe. That needle hurts!

GO ND!  DH and I watch every.single.game together and try to make it to one home game each year.

Updates or vents?  We had our 2nd ultrasound this morning.  I was so nervous until I saw the little heartbeat flickering away on the monitor.  Our next u/s will be 07.05.12.  I can't wait!

I know you probably don't believe it now, but in a few weeks you will get your energy back for 3 or 4 months.  Then feel like you got hit by a mac truck again.  It's weird by with DS and this pg, right around 12w it was like someone flipped a switch in terms of my energy level.  Hang in there.  GL at your OB appt tomorrow.

My screen name is 3rdat40, and as you might guess, I am going to have my 3rd child at age 40. I am due January 12, 2013. I don't know the gender yet as I am only 11 weeks along, but I do hope to find out at my 20 week u/s.

QOTW: I love to read. My older children are now 9 and 6, and quite independent, so I spend most evenings reading. I didn't read all that much when the kids were babies and toddlers, so that is what I am going to miss the most when this new baby arrives.

Updates: I just bought my first maternity clothes today ( I did not save any from previous pregnancies because I thought I was DONE having kids 6 years ago!) I don't need to wear them just yet, but I had the opportunity to go shopping without my kids in tow (thank you, summer camp!) so I went ahead and bought some capris and a sundress that I will likely need in a few more weeks!

Welcome!  I hope you have a great pg.  I had to buy more mat clothes as even though DS is only 2.5 (and this lo is due within a month of DSs bday), I'm showing a lot faster this time around than I did last time.  I hope you find time to read after lo arrives (even if it's just in the bathroom LOL!)

QOTW - Reading and writing. Travelling used to be on the list too, but we don't the chance as often anymore.
  • QOTW:    What are the hobbies/sports/activities that you do, that you couldn't imagine not having in your life?

My husband and I have some rural land outside of town with cattle and we love going there to work on the weekends. There is something about voluntary manual labor that relieves the mental stress from work and life in general. It's so nice to be able to go out there, unplug and get your hands dirty. I also love reading and watching sports with DH (basketball, baseball, football, tennis, golf...you name it)

Oh morning sickness, how I hate you. I am thankful that I'm able to eat and hold down food but this overall feeling of ick and blah and acid stomach is getting really old! I am sooo looking forward to 2nd Tri when I will start feeling better :)

  • Oh is it Monday again already??

QOTW: What are the hobbies/sports/activities that you do, that you couldn't imagine not having in your life? Normally I would say that I can't imagine not being able to cook or bake, but I have done so little of that lately that it feels like cheating to say it. Also I would be miserable if I couldn't swim every summer! I have always wanted my own pool and we finally have one!

Updates or vents? Only vent is the annoying tingly-ness in my fingers. As for updates, I'm very excited that the guest bed has finally been moved downstairs! Now we can put the crib together, paint, and start preparing for LO's arrival!

I have a crazy job and was in grad school forever- so I did not have much time for hobbies for a long time. Now having fun starting a small garden and doing a few crafty things. I've always loved baking! Winofairy- We also go to an ND game or two each year! Updates or vents? I have my first appointment on Wednesday! My husband and I really got into hiking, but since I"ve been about 10 weeks pregnant, I haven't felt up to it.  So now, mostly we just walk 2-4 miles 4-5 days a week.  I also used to be very into wine, although that is also on hold for now!  Travel, cooking/baking, nothing too exciting.  Exploring new places around LA (even though we've lived here for 10 years, there's still plenty of unexplored territory!)

    Updates or vents?

I failed my one-hour GTT - or at least I think I did - based on the lab results that were electronically released to me last Thursday.  But my OB hasn't called me yet, which is odd.  I think I'll email her tomorrow.  Maybe I didn't fail by enough?  Either way, even though I really don't want to, I feel like I SHOULD take the 3-hour test.

We also ordered the nursery furniture (finally!) yesterday.  Although, the order is on hold, because the very helpful saleswoman (who also sold us other furniture in our house 7 years ago and stil remembered our names on sight!) said the store owner will probably do a July 4th sale, and she wants to wait a week to put in our order in case he drops the prices of any of the pieces we're ordering.  We are getting a crib and dresser from Young America by Stanley.  We also saw a recliner/rocker we liked, but we're waiting on that.

My mom decided to throw caution to the wind of her traditional Midwestern etiquette and throw me a baby shower.  There are extenuating circumstances - I live 2000 miles away and I'll be visiting for a week in late July/early August.  Also, my dad has cancer, and I think they need something positive to focus on.  So, that will be fun.

Benoitfan- I hope your little guy is feeling better and that his arm heals quickly! Poor guy!!

Updates: 4 more days!!!!!  I was able to get ahold of admitting this morning (after being transferred 5 times) to make sure that everything was scheduled and to do some pre surgery paperwork.  But unfortunately, I was told I can't have any greasy or fried foods on Thursday.  Normally, it wouldn't be a problem, but that's Nathaniel's birthday and we were going to go out for dinner and ice cream to celebrate. But for one day, I can do it, right?  They also told me I can't have nail polish on my toes.  I feel sorry for the people who will see my feet!!!

It's also a little scary to think that this is my last pregnant check in...ever.  Very exciting, but scary because this is when the anxiety kicks into high gear for me.  I wish you all the very best and for the new joiners, I hope that everything during your pregnancy goes well!!!!

ETA: Today is the gestational age that Nathaniel was born at, so tomorrow I will be the most pregnant I've ever been.

Thanks Joi...little man seems totally ok.  I think it's harder on me than him.

Congrats on being more pg than you ever have been before....at least I think congrats!  Your litttle V will be here so soon!  YAY!

I hear you.  I had terrible nausea for the first 11w.  I felt like I was on a boat in the middle of the ocean.  I had to break down and get some meds from my doc it was so bad. Hopefully those symptoms will start to fade and be gone as you turn the corner to 2nd tri.

Boo on the possibly failed GTT.  I'd definitely call the doc to see what is up with that (them not calling to let you know).  Congrats on buying the baby furniture.  That's a big step and an exciting one.  And Yay mom for deciding to spoil you with a shower on your visit home.  That should be fun!

I talked to them this morning.  They scheduled my 3-hour for first thing tomorrow morning.  The nurse sheepishly admitted the doctor told her to call me on Friday, but she forgot until this morning.

  • Regan Marie is here!  Our precious little girl arrived on Friday, June 22nd at 8 pounds, 2 oz and 22 inches long.  We are totally in love and can't believe how lucky we are.  Mommy and Daddy are doing fine, albeit a little sleep deprived.

Hope to see other birth announcements soon and looking forward to seeing you on the 35+ Parenting board soon.
