So, a few days ago I posted Kelsen as a potential boy name. I agree with several points you ladies made...and now we're back on the search. Myy husband's suggestions include:
Aldan (he NEEDS to have that spelling and doesn't like Alden)
Ansel
Braxton
I'm not sold on any of these (and the husband isn't really either). We are looking for something fairly uncommon. Middle name will probably be Daniel. DD is Marin. Any suggestions? TIA...you ladies totally helped come up with our girl name.
Re: Need new boy first name...help!
I don't care for Aidan, because of its popularity and trendiness.
I kind of like Ansel. It's different, but not unheard of. I also like the photographer Ansel Adams.
Braxton reminds me of Braxton Hicks contractions.
I actually prefer the Aidan spelling to any other, but I wouldn't use it due to popularity. I like Ansel (I think of Ansel Adams), and it's definitely unusual. Braxton just makes me think of Braxton Hicks contractions, so it's a no go for me (and it doesn't sound appealing anyway).
Some uncommon names on my own list: Caspian, Lachlan, Ever, Dashiell, Declan, Linus, Ari, Soren, and August
BFP #1 9/7/10, EDD 5/14/11, Violet born 5/27/11.
BFP #2 4/9/12, EDD 12/16/12, M/C Rory 4/24/12.
BFP #3 10/6/12, EDD 6/16/12., Matilda born 6/17/13.
Aldan would be the only one from your list that I would consider...the others are NMS.
My sons are Xander and Jericho. We also like Uriah, Lucien, Marshall, Quinten, Quincy and Silas.
My nephew is Alden, and I LOVE it. So, that's my vote. Ansel is okay, but I really dislike Braxton. I think Toni Braxton and Braxton hicks contractions.
What about Orrin, Wade, or Lane? I also love Flynn, one of PP's suggestions.
Other uncommon names on our list include Abram, Amos, Thayer, Finnegan, Leander, Orson, and Joah.

I agree with PP about Alden -- it looks very close to Aidan, which is very, very popular.
What about...
Kylan
Clayton
Brooks
Walker
Callum
Tristan
Keenan
Nevin
Alden is fine, but I think the fact that it was misread by so many PPs speaks volumes to what you and your son will experience in the future.
Ansel is a great underused name, but I agree with PP that I don't love the double -el ending paired with Daniel.
Harlan
Ambrose
Lawrence
Martin
Niall
I agree with others that if so many on this board misread ALdan as Aidan that it will be a continuing problem for your DS. Ansel is ok, NMS but it's not too out there. I don't like Braxton.
For your naming style what about Silas or Jericho?
I despise the name Braxton.
Ansel is not my style, but I don't hate it. However, Ansel Daniel sounds terrible.
Like other people said, the fact that so many misread Aldan as Aidan will probably cause a ton of annoyance for your son in the future. I don't think that should be a dealbreaker if you love the name, but Aldan also sounds terrible with Daniel- doesn't flow well at all.
If you're set on Daniel as a middle name, I'd keep looking. Otherwise my vote goes to Aldan.
I'm having a hard time coming up with suggestions! Maybe Kieran?
I adore Aldan but I have a strong emotional connection to it. Still it's a GP name that I don't think I could ever use.
Have you considered Daniel Aldan? I love the way that sounds.
The other 2 are not for me at all.
I'm digging Ansel, but Ansel Daniel sounds bad.
Braxton really grates on my ears- it brings to mind "brat" and "braxton hicks."
I also misread Aldon the first time I glanced at it- I actually read Aladdin! I'm probably the only one though
Ansel and Marin make an awesome sibset.
Not crazy about Aldan or Braxton.
