I'm a little concerned about over feeding. Lo is still taking in around 27 oz of fortified milk. She is up to 3 meals and 2 or 3 snacks a day. An example of what she eats is for breakfast she ate 3 oz of coconut yogurt with blueberries, half a waffle, an entire banana, and 3 oz of sweet potatoes mashed with olive oil. She was still screaming after that so she got 3 oz of watered down pear juice since she was a little constipated and then nursed off one side. This was about an hour after her last milk feeding. She's had a piece of toast, a thick slice of ham and she's about to eat some guacamole and cinnamon (no sugar) applesauce. If she can see food or even the empty container she screams and opens her mouth like a bird. I'm torn between letting her eat because she's pushed over the 5th percentile and being concerned that she has no censor on her appetite and although she's gained weight since starting solids it's not overwhelming considering how much she eats. I don't really have a question just wanted to say it outloud.
Re: Probably a dumb question re: How much solids?
How long has she been on solids? Does her appetite seem to cycle? We will have several days where E eats like that and then a few days here and there where he eats hardly anything.
Based on my understanding, babies can't overeat if they're feeding themselves- similar to breast feeding. Since the control their intake, as opposed to you trying to get them to eat a certain amount (a jar of food, 3 oz, whatever) they stop when they've had enough.
I know with BLW which you've said you're kind of doing, you're supposed to keep offering until they decide they don't want more.
LBB eats a ton. He's still drinking 28-32 oz of milk, and 3 full meals a day. Last night he ate an entire beet, some cheddar cheese, another kind of cheese, a raspberry, some bread with avocado, some pita with avocado, some panini, some zucchini, and salmon. This morning at breakfast we had to keep refilling his plate with eggs and watermelon- at least 4 times.
