Re: will I hear a hb??

  • I believe the earliest you can hear the heartbeat is 10 weeks but most Drs prefer to wait till 12. We get to hear ours next week.

You will be lucky to see one- not because anything is wrong, but because it is early.

And even when they do, no. The machine will generate a sound based on the image.

This.  It's going to be really hard for you to see/hear a heartbeat at 6 weeks.  You'll have better luck around 8-9.  A doppler more than likely won't pick up a heartbeat until 10-12 weeks.

Yeah we were able to see the heartbeat at exactly 6 weeks and they were able to count the BPM but we didn't have any sound generated.

At 6w2d we were able to see the heartbeat by transvaginal ultrasound, but didnt hear it.  I was able to hear it on my doppler at 10 weeks exactly.  Don't panic if you do not see it, sometimes it can take a little longer.

    Good Luck!!

  • ok, I didn't really expect to be able to hear it, but then I saw a post where someone said something about 6 weeks being the earliest for a hb.... would be cool if we do see one.

this u/s isn't even with the OB, it's technically my last RE appt(hopefully forever)... I think he needs to confirm the sac before he sends me off to the OB

I saw and heard a heartbeat at 4 weeks 5 days via transvaginal ultrasound. My RE had told us not to expect it but we were all thrilled when it showed up :) so you never know. Good luck!

  • I had some concerns at 6 1/2 weeks that brought me in for a TV sonogram. At 7 weeks we were able to *see* (not hear) the heartbeat. It was a little slow, but it was early, too. You won't be able to see very much, but the heartbeat will be a little pulsing flicker overtop of where they will point out where your baby is.
  • I saw a heartbeat at 6w 5d but did not hear anything. They told me not to expect to see anything, so they were surpised when we did.

  • I was at the ER and saw and heard baby's hb at what I thought was 5wks 6days but the u/s dated me at 6wks 2days. However, I'm assuming since the pic was also much clearer and more defined, that their equipment is alot more sensitive than a Dr's office.

  • I did fertility treatments and was monitored after getting a postive blood test. I had an u/s at 6wks and a couple days. We didn't hear it but we did see it. I had another u/s at 8wks and a couple days, we did hear the heartbeat that time.
