exercise post c

I am now 6 1/2 weeks post section and beginning to feel like I could commence exercising.Since about 3 or 4 weeks I have been walking around the neighborhood. For those of you that resumed, when and how did you begin, and where are you with fitness now? It has always been really important to me and I remained really active in pregnancy, yet I certainly have a healthy fear of not straining or over doing anything post op. just wondering...

  • I started with mild cardio.  I think by the time DS was six months, I really resumed the strenuous stuff.  I probably could have earlier but I just needed that time to feel normal (I had HELLPS).  I started taking cardio mix classes and strength classes when I resumed the strenuous stuff.

  • I had a CS with DS.  I was cleared at the 6 wk PP check up.  At 7 weeks I began a five week bootcamp.  Granted, my core was extremely weak and I was horribly out of shape, but all that being said, do what you can.  Just don't over-do it.  You'll know.

  • I started doing cardio (elliptical) 5 days a week and weight training 2 days a week.  I worked with a trainer the first couple months because I wanted to learn how and what weights I should be lifting. In october I gave up the elliptical and went hard core with the stair master and still 2 days a week lifting, but it was more intense and rigorous.  I would also put yoga, pilates, or zumba in once a week.  I need variety now.  Currently I'm doing "hip hop abs" 4 days a week and running on treadmill 3 days a week.  I've also done boot camp and a pole dancing class which was a blast!

    I started walking around 2 weeks. at my 6 week PP appointment I got my docs blessing on everything. I started with mild cardo (elliptical, workout videos) and I was back into myfull groove within a month!
