Facebook group for Pregnant over 35!

HI! I just started a facebook group for women who are, were or would like to be pregnant over 35. Anyone wanting to join here is the link:

Is it a private group by invite only? The reason I ask is that many ladies here (particularly ones with IF issues or those who have a loss history don't want the who facebook world to read about their pg on the newsfeed. Most pg facebook groups are private and don't show up on your newsfeed. Ie. PGAL, Nov 12 momma's.

You might get a better response if you make the group private and ask ladies to pm you their IRL names so you can invite them to the group. Just a thought.

Just sent my request. Just curious - if I join the group will that make my profile viewable to all members? Or would the profile privacy settings still apply?

Is it private? I will join if it is private. We are never outing on Facebook because I don't want lurkers to know my business. When I mc in the fall I posted a comment on a pregnancy loss page and with 5 minutes (I am not exaggerating) I had a pm from someone asking if I had recently mc'd. Not something I wanted to discuss with someone I hadn't seen since high school. Anyway, I will join if it is private.

FYI - I just looked at the group. It is closed (ie. by invite only), but it IS NOT PRIVATE. Which means every post will show on the newsfeed and every one of your friends will see all your business about your pg. In order for that not to happen the group must be SECRET.

I was just outed b/c of this! I checked my timeline & my activity log, and nothing showed up, at all. However, the fact that I was invited/joined the group did show up in my friends newsfeeds. Luckily a friend who already knew & knew we weren't telling everyone til 12 weeks texted me immediately! I simply deactivated my account.

I just hope our siblings & nieces/nephews didn't see- since we have only told my mom & two of my friends (who guessed).

Maybe you can change the name to something less conspicuous?
